The primary purpose of SETSIG is to advance knowledge concerning specialized technology products and effective practices for enhancing opportunities for children, youth, and adults with disabilities and for students who are gifted. In addition, we seek to provide leadership, policy development, resources, and training for our members and serve as a catalyst for engaging the special education community within ISTE.

Activities This Past Year:

• Membership: – 2,979 members (14% of 20,663 ISTE members) gain of 14% from 2,619 members since May 2008

• Communications Committee– Creation of communication channels; Coordinators

• Conference Program Advisory Committee; SIG Picks

• UDL Playground

• Forum: Digital Text

Activities for the Coming Year:Ongoing:• Monthly board conference calls• Maintain SETSIG wiki• Review proposals for ISTE 2011• Plan the UDL Playground for ISTE 2011• Plan the Forum for ISTE 2011• Provide regular communication with members; many channels• Hold monthly online discussions

New:• Contests• Higher Education Syllabus Project with SIGTE• Provide feedback to ISTE on web site accessibility

How Can Members Contribute?

• Volunteer to serve on a committee• Contribute to our monthly online discussions• Submit materials for our newsletter
