Suite Style Living

Suite style living typically consists of 2 or 4 bedroom units with a common living and kitchen space for the students in each suite. This type of living gives students a chance to have privacy when needed.

Utilizing Vertical Space

In residence halls where square footage is restricted, the solution might be to utilize vertical space by lofting or bunking the beds. Students are then able to use the space under or next to the beds for storage and study areas.

The Essix bed can be bunked or lofted by using the integrated coupler already attached. This bed does not require tools or pins.

Reconfiguring FurnitureReconfiguring student rooms is important because it gives the students a chance to personalize and make their space feel at home. Some ways this can be done are with single beds that can be bunked, storage that can go underneath the bed or stacked for a larger worksurface, mobile pedestals that can be used as a nightstand or desk storage, and chairs with casters.

Here at RT London, we believe in creatingsuperior living spaces with our flexible furniture systems that provide all of the comforts and conveniences of home.

Using Space Efficiently

Because of its rarity, space is important in residence halls. The goal is to use furniture as efficient as possible and in order to do so, colleges and universities are starting to listen to the needs of their students. Do they really use desk drawers? Do they need stackable drawers or an entire wardrobe?

Truth is, students are not using desk drawers and a simple metal leg desk would save the institution space and valuable dollars.

Collaborative Spaces

Student habits rapidly change, therefore residence halls must follow suit. One way institutions are improving residence halls is through collaborative spaces for their students. Game rooms, study rooms and lounges are becoming the common theme among collaborative spaces.

Adapting to TechnologyTechnology has become increasingly important to institutions in the way students learn and socialize on campus. Because of the rapid changes, power options can be utilized in the furniture to adapt to these changes.

Competing with Off-Campus AmenitiesColleges and Universities are competing more and more with the amenities available to students right outside of campus. Spending time on the design and furniture of their spaces can set them apart from traditional residence halls and keep students from leaving campus.
