Evolution of energy consumption 1990/ 2008. For area

1990

2008

• Energy needs are growing worlwide.

• The dependence on fossil fuels will remain high.

• It is anticipated a growing demand for renewable energy, particulary electricity generators.

Electricity needs and sources

Types of Biomass

Energy crops

Forest biomass

Agricultural waste

Biomass is a renewable source of energy, practically inexhaustible.

Preparation of biomass

Moisture• Maximum allowed

moisture 20%

Crushing• Splinter size 5 cm• Not necessary pelletizing

Storage SystemPackaging•Dimensions: 0.9 m high, 1.2 m wide and 2.5 m long.•The bales are stacked one above another, forming blocks of 36 bales. •Indoor or outdoor storage.

In cone•Dimensions: 8 m high x 6 m diameter.•Outdoor storage to promote drying of the material.

2. Gasification

Advantages of gasification

Elimination of almost all of the incoming waste

• The resultant ashes are inert• Of minimum volume• They are easy to recycle or

treat. Possibility to recover heavy metals

Reduction gas emissions

• A 40% CO2 and 100% CH4• High filtration efficiency: avoid

the emission of toxic gases• SO2, SO3 and NOx

(promoters of acid rain)• Dioxins and furans

(carcinogens)

High efficienc

y and

profitability

• Lower cost per Kwh generated

Abundance of fuel•No dependence on foreign•Usable in separate areas

To eliminate waste To generate electricity

Problems of uncontrolled biomass burning

• Smoke production with fine organic particles with high concentrations of soot.

• Emissions of CO by bad combustion.

Advantages of the gasification front of the incineration

• In gasification, emissions of hazardous compounds (dioxins and furans) are 1.000 items smaller.

• The energy efficiency is about 32% (front of 22% of incineration with Rankine cycle)

• It generates 40% of CO2 less per kWh produced.

• Gasification allows smaller plants (from 0,5 MW)

3. GreenE plants

Why GreenE?

Strong•Able to waste to energy all types of biomass, independently of its level of impurities

Power generation• Syngas generation can be

transformed into electricity and heat

Profitability• Maximum efficiency of the process• Minimum investment per MW

installed.• Profitable plants from 0,5 MW

Experience• 8 years of development. 2

pilot plants.Proprietary technology and manufacturing.

Service• Full range of services to ensure the

implementation and operation of the plant.

Modular plants• Easy installation• Low cost of installation• Easy transport

GreenE technology: gasification in rotary kilnCan be used for

any type of organic waste

Ability to process waste

with lots of ashes

High power generation

High quality and

durability

Dry filters: will not generate

Coal and wood

GreenE gasification plants adapt to any type of organic solid fuel.

They can work with hard bark species such as poplar or onocotiledoneas with high silicon content, as the thistle.

Comparison with other gasification technologies

“Down draft”

•Only valid for very pure biomass.•Pelletizing biomass is needed.•Ash content is limited to ≤ 2,5%

“Fluidized bed”

•High cost of operation and maintenance.•Pelletizing biomass is needed.•Ash content is limited to ≤ 2,5%

Power Generation

Generator

• Gas Engine "Otto cycle", four-stroke, with turbocharged of the mixing and cooling of it, working on the principle of “lean-burn”, “LEANOX”.

• Electric generator driven by the engine

• Electrical efficiency of 36%
