We observed patients and staff -- in isolation precautions for MRSA & C-Diff -- in rooms on 4 east and west. Day shift on December 11th.

We noticed overflowing waste receptacles in some of the rooms. Often, care providers stated they did not gown and glove because they did not know how to safely dispose of dirty PPE during an “overflow.”

We noticed Jasper Palmer (a transporter) demonstrating an artistic, safe, and efficient way to don and doff PPE… resulting in an easily discarded “softball.”

The Palmer method may be a simple and elegant solution that others can learn quickly with no additional expense.
