Mid- Year Presentation

Goal

My goal for the 8th grade project is to build two baseball bats that I would be able to use.

Researching

I needed to research the type of bats I wanted.

The three main choices: birch, ash and maple.

Researching Cont.

Ash- softer wood, wood flexes, flakes

Maple- doesn’t flake, doesn’t flex, hard wood

Birch- flexes more than maple, more durable than ash

Buying the Wood

I bought my wood from http://www.woodbillets.com/.

I bought one birch billet and one ash billet.

Researching

Needed to find the dimensions for the bats.

From www.pennstateind.com, I got the needed diameters for a 32 inch bat.
