Breakout Sessions
Third-Party Audits: Preparation Through Compliance Presented by: Dr. Steve Adair, President, Palmetto Dental ConsultingPublic and private third-party payers audit their providers as a means to recover overpayments, to scrutinize records for possible improper behavior, and perhaps to enlist providers in controlling utilization and costs. State budget shortfalls and the growing federal deficit have prompted increased scrutiny of Medicaid providers by Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs) to uncover instances of fraud and abuse. While it may not be possible to completely forestall a third-party payer audit, having a compliance plan in place can greatly reduce a practice’s exposure to adverse outcomes. This presentation will focus on the elements of a compliance program and proper dental record documentation.
Getting the Most from Millennials Why are people under 35 so disenchanted with work - unless working for their peers - and sometimes with them? Even in the Great Recession Boomers wanted nothing more than to remain employed. Those born since 1981 have very different views. This presentation will look at the different viewpoints of each generation. Will your practice win and keep the young talent it needs and meet the expectations of your younger patients?
Marilyn Moats Kennedy is a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and holds both a Bachelor and Masters degree. She is the founder and president of Moats Kennedy, Inc and has written six books, been a columnist for Glamour magazine, and appeared on 20/20, Good Morning America, and Oprah.
Best Practices for Regulatory Compliance in 2015Presented by: Chris Moore, ODA Director of Dental ServicesTake the mystery out of regulatory compliance. This session will provide practical best prac-tices, up-to-date and easy-to-use information to keep you on top of the new and important regulatory compliance issues affecting dental practices in Ohio.
Parliamentary Procedure 101Presented by: Dr. Michael Halasz, Speaker of the ODA House of DelegatesThis breakout session will introduce participants to parliamentary procedure. Through a working example of presenting a motion, amending it, referring it, and ending debate, this session will provide methods of conducting meetings in a fair, orderly and expeditious manner.
Breaking News! - Hot Tips to Get the Word Out!Presented by: Dr. Matt Messina, ADA National Spokesperson, and Angela Krile, President, Krile CommunicationsThis breakout session will help you develop the skills necessary to communicate oral health issues with patients and the community. Join Angela Krile and Dr. Matthew Messina in a conversation that will be sure to help you effectively improve your communications portfolio. Portray yourself to your patients and the public in the best light possible by being educated on proper communication techniques, including social media, for addressing the issues/challenges surrounding dentistry.
