Mckinley Mile Race in Full Swing

McKinley Mile, Ball State’s annual cycling race, is currently in its 6th year! The event

will be taking place from 11am – 6pm on March 23rd, 2013, hosted by Lambda Chi Alpha in con-junction with the Office of Student Life, Student Government Association, University Program Board, and Residence Hall Association.

The event itself is rooted in what many of you probably acknowledged as Bike-a-thon dating back to 1952. In keeping with tradition, the event consists of both Benny Dash and Cardinal Relay cycling races. In addition, we have integrated a street fair into the event which offers free food, live mu-sic, and inflatables for riders and spectators on

the University Green.

All of the proceeds will go towards the Youth Op-portunity Center, a non for profit organization located right here in Muncie that administers housing, education, and support to help court-ordered juveniles reform adverse behaviors and acclimate them back into their homes and com-munity. The men of Lambda Chi Alpha have been work-ing diligently to make this event a success, and we invite you to come out and support our efforts in reaching our goal.

If you have any questions, comments, or inter-est in taking on a role with the event, Chairman Evan Heintz can be reached via e-mail at ed-heintz@bsu.edu. We look forward to hearing back from you and encourage your participation in the day’s festivities.

This years race proves to be largest yet with the most sponsors ever.

1st Annual Alumni Banquet Success

This past Sunday Iota-Alpha celebrated our Re-charter-

ing Anniversary and were lucky enough to be able to share it with a great group of Alumni.

Although this was the first year having this dinner we had a great alumni turnout and we hope to have even more next year. Alumni who attended the event were: Ryan Bishop, Corey Bow-man, Larry Campbell, Eric Coo-per, Chuck Dulla, Rick Foust, Steven Gagyi, Austin Gutzwiller, Ryan Haboush, Bradley Kieper, Eric Linder, Tony McCowan, Jay Pittenger, Gary Renschler, Tom-my Rodgers, Mike Ryan, John Schmitz, Jerry Wise and Jeff Zacarias.

At this meeting the chapter discussed a number of items. Former High Alpha Chris Buck spoke about our past and where we have come in both the last sixty years and in just the last five years since re-colonization of Iota-Alpha.

Currnet High Alpha Matt Jen-nings spoke of the future and where we plan to go next along with the possibility of housing in the near future.

We hope to see many more of you there next year.

Brothers Raise Over $1800 for BSUDM

2013 Alumni Banquet: Brother both active and alumni gather for a picture at the conclusion of the 1st annual alumni banquet.

On February 16, 2013 Ball State University held it’s annual Dance Marathon. All proceeds for this go to Riley’s Children Hospital in Indianapolis.

This year Dance Marathon raised $196,228.20 for the kids at Riley’s Children’s Hospital. Iota-Alpha showed up in force contributing over 30 dancers to the total 1,316

dancers and contributing over $1,800 toward the total.

The chapter paired with the ladies of Phi Mu to help raise a combined total of over $7000 and with a combined ninety-nine registered dancers.

The brothers danced for twelve hours without sitting all For the Kids. Multiple heart wrenching stories were heard from many families and individuals affected by Riley Children’s Hospital.

This cause hits home to many brothers who personally know friends and family that have had to use the services of Riley Hospital when no other Hospital could serve them.

DM: Participants Chris Buck and Ty Garrison dance for the kids.
