CHERISH THE MEMORIES
Celebrating the Life of
Jacob Stan Jones was born on July 15, 1986, at Washington Hospital Center to the late Denise Sheila Jones and Stanley Holmes Sr. “Jake,” as he was affectionately called, was educated in DC Public Schools and graduated from Howard D. Woodson Senior High School.
Throughout his career, Jacob worked as a stock clerk at CVS and as a construction worker for the Severn Group, Inc. and Blue Sky Construction Company. Jacob gained valuable knowledge and learned meaningful life lesson by also being a care taker for his son and grandmother.
In his early years, Jake played baseball, basketball, and soccer for the Department of Recreation. He enjoyed listening to his favorite musical artists Hot Boys, Three 6 Mafia, Lil Durk, and Money Bagg Yo. But Toni Braxton was dear to his heart, especially her hit song “Just Be A Man About It.” Jake loved to walk and eat snacks and drink juice all night. He enjoyed shopping and going to casinos and upscale restaurants. Traveling with his family to Ocean City was his favorite childhood place to visit. His magnificent smile and ever so big personality made him the life of every occasion and a catch for the ladies. Jacob was very private person, but social to family and friends. He had a heart of gold and was the same all the time, always greeting everyone with a smile, laughter, or hug.
Jake had a loving and giving spirit accompanied by a helping heart. There wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t do for his family and friends who were in need of his help. Family meant everything to him, especially his children, whom he loved with all his heart and soul. To know Jake was to love him. He was a special father, son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, and devoted friend.
Jacob Stan “Jake” Jones is survived by many who will cherish his memories: devoted father Stanley Holmes Sr.; devoted grandmother Diann Ward; daughter Jhala (Chamia); son JaKobe (Antranelle); sisters Nakeysha (Gregory) and Nakeyia; brother Stanley Jr; aunts Melveen and Veronica; uncles Bradley, Ricardo, Wayne, Darrell, and Jeffrey; niece Nakiya; nephews Ahmaad, Stanley, Marc, Jibreel, and Ahmarae; special cousin Ricardo; special sister Deyona; and many special brothers, friends, and other loving relatives. Jake was preceded in death by mother Denise Sheila Jones and grandfather Jacob Briggs.

Not Enough TimeDad, the time we had wasn't nearly enough to pack
in an entire lifetime of love. There are so many questions
That I need answers to; but now that you're gone, there's no way to ask you.
But there are still photos to remember you by.Each time I look at them, I still want to cry.
They say grief is easier to bear as time goes by, but that doesn't stop me from wondering why?
Why my loving, sweet Jake was taken so soon, when he was my guiding star, my sun,
and my moon. There are no answers to a question like this.
So I'll cherish your memory and mourn the years we'll miss.
—JaKobe
Letter to My DaddyHey Dad, could you come back and stay awhile longer? I want to hear your voice
and see your smile. I want to hold you tight and never let go and tell you how much I
love you so. I’m so glad that you’re my dad. You’re “one in a million,” pops. When it
comes down to first class fathers, you will always be at the top. You loved me whether
I was a good or bad. You really hurt me with this one fine and fantabulous daddy.
Thank you, are two words that literally have no value for a man who have done it all for me; but I still want to thank you for always making it happen for me. Words can’t even
justify how much you did for me, DAD. You are my hero and you’ll always be forever
with us.
—Your Big Baby
We Love You, Dad!
