On the 19th July we said goodbye to 12 of our dogs who arrived at their new homes on the 22nd
July. Beth, Nikolas, Deejay, Pedro, Octan, Jamie Lee, Pepita , Joey and Shane all had new homes
to go to. Bruin went to be fostered in Holland and was adopted a week later. Harold was being
fostered by the mum of one of our UK team members but days later she decided to adopt him.
Ariel is being fostered by team members in Yorkshire, England and is still available for adoption.
Lovely Ariel is 5 months old and cur-
rently being fostered in Yorkshire.
Many things are new to her as she is
seeing them for the first time but she
is doing so well.
She is doing well with her basic com-
mands and gets on so well with the
three older dogs at her foster home.
Please contact us if you are interested
in adopting Ariel .
Work finally started on the shelter roof. Thanks to everyone who donated, we raised enough for two of three sections of the roof to be
done.
(Update 13th June 2012. We have now raised the 8000 for work to start on the first part of the roof, thanks to someone who
wishes to remain anonymous, donating the final 883 Euros needed. We still have to raise 16,000 Euros (8000 for each of the
other two sections) . Thank you to everyone who has donated and fundraised for us.
Update 18th july 2012. Thanks to a grant from the Shumen trust, the prize money from the Sunsuper and Bigheart Bingo competi-
tions and private donations, we now have enough money for the second part of the roof to be done.)
Thank you to Anita for submitting her dream for the funds for the shelter roof and to everyone who voted in both competitions.
A further 200 British pounds has been granted by Walker 597 Animal Trust . Details of other fundraising events are on the next page.
This will all go towards the third and final part of the roof which we desperately hope will be done before the Winter.
Unfortunately one of the dividing walls collapsed whilst the roof was being done. This caused an absolute panic as dogs had been
moved from pens just 5 minutes before the collapse. For a while we were unable to get through to the end shed because of all the
bricks, to check that the bricks hadn’t fallen that way in any of the pens. Fortunately they hadn’t and all dogs were unhurt. Part of the
other dividing wall was taken down safely the next day to avoid any accidents. Work does have to be done on the walls but the col-
lapse was unexpected and with so much to be done we have to raise funds for each and every thing and do what we think is most
urgent at the time. Some kind people donated when they heard about the wall collapse so we are hoping to be able to start making
some of the walls more secure using those donations. At the moment work has stopped as the builder is still waiting for the roofing
sheets to be delivered to complete the second stage.

Julie completed her mile swim at Salford Quays on the 1st july and raised ap-
proximately 607 British pounds for RSDR. I was in England visiting family at
the time so went along with Sam, Nikita and my sister to cheer Julie on. I don’t
think I did very well at giving encouragement during the swim as I spent the
whole time dashing about trying to work out which swimmer was Julie. Eventu-
ally I gave up and went to the finish spot to wait, only to find Julie already there.
She did great and at least we got to see her before and after the race.
Sarah Yeadon and Alice Morgan sponsored cycle ride through
Richmond park
Many thanks to Sarah and Alice who did a sponsored bike ride for us
on the 15th July. The sun was shining for them and they came very
close to a herd of deer during their ride. The girls raised 155 euros for
RSDR.
Dutch team have stall at Dog day 7th July Holland.
Many thanks to our Dutch team who had
an RSDR stall at this event in Holland.
126.25 Euros was raised and 42 euros
from charity bracelets sold by Ineke.
Samantha Rowles sponsored weight loss
Samantha is doing a sponsored weight loss which will last 5 weeks. The aim is to lose as
much weight in a healthy way over the 5 week time frame and raise as much money for
RSDR as possible. Start date 30th July, the final weigh in will be on the 3rd September.
After numerous short lived attempts to lose weight, Samantha decided this would be the
perfect way to motivate herself to stick to it and help a great cause at the same time.
If you would like to support Sam and help her to raise funds for RSDR, please go to her
fundraising page on the website

Hvidfod and Kirstie came to us on
the 27th june. Their mother is a street
dog that we feed when we see her but
still can’t get near her. She brought
the pups to Tony then turned and left
without them. Sadly Kirstie died
after her first vaccination
Baz was rescued by luke. He was in
the town one night and found the pup
all alone.
Franny and Fleur were dumped on the
grass verge next to the shelter. Both girls
had a very nasty infection and it has been
a fight to keep them alive. They both now
appear to be on the mend.
Crosby was brought to the shelter by a group of boys who
said they had found him alone in one of the villages.
Crosby had very bad bruising and swelling to his tummy
probably caused by a severe kicking. The poor little guy
also has a very nasty infection. He is being given rehy-
dration fluids and antibiotics and we are just praying that
he survives.
Someone asked liam and
luke if they could look after
his dog for a couple of
weeks while he was away.
Months went by and despite
all efforts to contact him, he
never came back for her. Mir
is a lovely friendly girl.
Haifa and Gracie were brought to the
shelter by an old woman. We tried ex-
plaining to her that we are very over
crowded and have no room but she put
down the cardboard box with the pups in
and just left.
Luke had seen this poor little pup in the
town. He couldn’t get near him as he would
run off screaming when he saw people. The
poor little boy was brought to the house after
he was hit by a car. He is in a very bad con-
dition but doesn’t have any serious injuries
after the accident. At first he would scream
and hide when he saw us but it didn’t take
long for him to trust and become a very
friendly little boy. He is at the house being
cared for by Kerry.

Katya was handed to Tony in the town
one evening when he was on his way
back to the shelter. She is a friendly girl.
We had been feeding a female street dog for several months but
like so many others she would only come for the food when we
backed away. We knew she was pregnant and then nursing pups
but had no idea where she was hiding the pups. Unfortunately
when the pups reach a certain age the mother will either leave them
as they become rivals for her food source or the pups will follow
the mum into town. Many of them will then get left behind and go
into a blind panic. This is exactly what happened to eight pups that
we rescued in july. The pups were running about the town scream-
ing and their mum had left them.
Unfortunately there is a very nasty infection that is rife at the mo-
ment, possibly parvo which means the chances are very high of any
pup on the streets already having it or incubating it.
All of these 8 pups are being treated but sadly we lost Kisses after
just a few days.

Two year old Yoda is still being fos-
tered in the UK and is looking for his
purrfect home. He is a lovely boy
with an amazing character. He is used
to dogs and gets on well with other
cats.
Flanagan
Many people will remember the story of Flanagan. He is one of a litter of pups that were cruelly left to die in a box in the
forest. They had been there for 3 days without any food or water before we were told about them. They were in the blazing
sunshine during the day and facing freezing temperatures at night.
Sadly two pups had already died when we found them. Gunner, Muffin and Flanagan were still alive but very weak and
unable to stand. Gunner and Muffin sadly didn’t survive. Flanagan was very ill with an infection and we really didn’t think
he would make it. This little guy astounded us all though. He went from strength to strength and it is with a mixture of
emotions that we finally decided that having had all his vaccinations, he is now available for adoption.
