Install Domain Controller and DNS server in the new server .Edited and tested by : QuangTM
Install Domain Controller
At the Run box, type dcpromoand then press enter
At the Active DirectoryInstallation click next
At the next windows, click next
Check the Domain Controllerfor a new domain box clicknext
Check the Domain in a newforest and click next
Give the full DNS name andclick next. Ex : dc02.com.vn
Give the NetBIOS name andclick next. Ex : DC02
In the next windows, click nextto make dafault Database andlog folder path, click next tocontinue
Click next to make dafaultshared folder location
At the DNS RegistrationDiagnostics, check Install andconfigure DNS server on thisserver….and click next
At the next step, check thePermissions compatible onlywith windows 2000 or windows2003…click next to continue
Give the resotore modepassword and click next
Click next and wait until theinstallation completed
When the installationcompleted, click Restart now torestart the server
Configure the DNS server
The first step is set thePreferred DNS server tothe IP address of server.Ex : 192.168.1.2
Open AdministrativeTools and open theDNS. Right click on theReverse Lookup Zoneand click New Zone…
At the New zone wizardwindow, click next tocontinue
Check the Primary Zonebox and click next
Check the To alldomains controllerin…and click next
Give the network ID andclick next to continue.Ex : 192.168.1
In the next window,check the Allow bothnonsecure andsecure…and click next
The next step is to setthe default gateway,Preferreed DNS serverand Alternative DNSserver address. Ex :Preferred DNS server :192.168.1.2 AlternativeDNS server :210.245.32.130 anddefault gateway :192.168.1.254
Right click the networkicon under the rightcorner and choose repairto reset the networksettings
Open DNS server,expand the ReverseLookup Zone, then rightclick on the zone nameand choose Reload.
After this step, DNSserver will create areverse pointerautomatically
From Run box, typenslookup command tosure that the DNS serveris OK
