THE INGRAM ALL-STARS

There have been many great basketball teams throughout the history of East Texas State College.

One great team to mention would be the Mount Vernon basketball team who won the District Championship in 1953.

Another would be the East Texas State Teacher’s College Men’s Basketball team, coached by Bobby Rodgers. The team won the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Championship in 1955.

And let’s not forget the 1911-12 Clarksville High School Basketball Team. Ladies instrumental in paving the way for future generations of girls to have a place in sports.

But the most notable of the East Texas State teams would have to be the East Texas State Teacher’s College 1946 Men’s Basketball team which included the Ingram brothers.

…as were Troy and Bill.

Gale and Truitt were one set of brothers…

Dick was the nephew of Troy and Robert, as his mother was their sister. He was also the cousin of Gayle and Truitt.

The Ingram brothers were famous for scoring more than half the points in almost every game they played.

Yes, the boys from Quitman are probably the most entertaining bunch to ever play basketball at East Texas State Teacher’s College.
