Introduction

During the Gilded Age, from 1869-1896, millions of immigrants poured into the United States from all over the world including China, Ireland, and Italy. These newcomers hoped for a better life upon their arrival yet were faced with low paying jobs, poor living conditions, discrimination, competition, and savage mistreatment.

Task• Fully research the lives of the “new immigrants” that

came to America• Take a stance on whether you believe foreign

immigration had a positive influence on the growing country compared to the negative influences or vice versa.

• Present your view in a PowerPoint presentation• Explain the positive & negative influences in a chart• Explain to which of the AP Themes this topic pertains
