Conclusion

I wanted to do this Web Quest because I thought that it would be interesting for the student’s. They are in high school and totally consumed with relationships so I thought this would be something they could relate to. Also, I thought it was needed in the classroom because more often than not we talk about Hispanic culture and foods and we don’t really study places such as Spain, which has delecacies some of my student’s would never even think of!In the lesson the student’s should be using the links provided to learn as much as they can about Spanish food and culture and then in the end compile their information into a Power-Point to share with the class.

Conclusion

This lesson is planned for a 10th grade Spanish classroom. There needs to be some prior knowledge of Spanish to be able to put together a Power Point, but the sources that I used are in English so if you just wanted your student’s to explore Spanish culture this would be perfect to get their feet wet. Also, there could be some ways to relate this to and English or a History class if they needed more information on a certain country, or if they were discussing traditions in America and how those relate to other countries this would be a good resource as well.

STANDARD 2: Students acquire and use knowledge ofin an appropriate manner. cultures while developing foreign language skills.RATIONALELanguage learners are culture learners as well. Students need to develop anunderstanding of the cultures in which the language is spoken and the ability to function

In order to meet this standard, students will· demonstrate knowledge of aspects of foreign cultures such as daily life, education, history, geography, government, economics, and the arts;· apply knowledge of cultural practices when communicating in a foreign language; and· use the foreign language to access cultural information available only in that language.

The student’s will also use their critical thinking skills and their creativity while deciding which information is the most appropriate and when they are designing their powerpoint

I decided to choose the groups for the student’s, but then I wanted them to decide which part they wanted to do, so they could choose something during the project.

Also, in the end result I want them to put their findings together into a Power Point presentation. Along with the PowerPoint I would like them to pick a simple recipe and make it for the class. This project would fill up my entire week because of all the stuff that is required with this assignment.

I would like the student’s to prepare the dish and bring it in an I would cut it up if necessary and then we could have kind of a buffet, and a culture day. This would be a reward for all of the hard work that they have been doing and something to look forward to.

Conclusion

The resources needed for this lesson would be:~ A computer for every student~ Power Point on the computer~ A projector to display the Power Points~Utensils for the buffet- napkins, plates, cups~ Possibly a rubric for the other student’s so they could be graded on what they thought was interesting from each presentation.

I feel this lesson could be done with only one teacher because they are exploring on their own and the teacher would only be there to guide their learning.

This Web quest is very self-explanitory. The student’s will go through and read all the

instructions and then go to the websites. The websites are in yellow and when they click on

each of them they will be taken directly to the site. Once they are there they can get all the

information they need and possibly print if necessary. Also, I would tell my student’s to

minimize each link so if they need to go back to it later they can.

Conclusion

I feel that this lesson will be very helpful in the foods unit and can be just used as learning culture as well. I think it is important for students to learn about all different kinds of cultures and not just the one’s in the textbook. With this web quest I am hoping to accomplish these goals.
