This is a webquest that will help children learn about how pumpkins grow, and become a fully grown pumpkin. Also, it will show what a pumpkin can be used for once they are fully grown.

In the first part of the lesson they will learn how a pumpkin grows. They will listen to a story about the life cycle. They will then complete a life cycle pumpkin diagram. After that they can play a game, where they can make a Jack-o-Lantern. Then they will think of two other life cycles, and uses for pumpkins.

Children will learn a lot and a teacher will be able to know this by their group writing assignment. Teachers will be able to asses and check to make sure children understand the concept of a life cycle. Teacher will know if the children understand fully when children think of two other life cycles, and two other used for a pumpkin. It will show that they know understand that living things grow somewhere before coming to the store or their homes.

After you have completed the lesson talk to the children. Ask them if there are any other life cycles they would like to better understand. This will help reinforce the idea that all living things grow.

Then press the arrow key under the picture. This will play the movie. If you need to re-watch it just press the circle that comes up in the center of the movie, once it has finshed playing.

Then take out your paper. If it’s easier write or draw a picture above each word in bold what the pumpkin looks like at this stage. Then continue by writing a complete sentence.

After that you may go on to the next link. This is the 2nd long word underlined and in blue. Once you have made a pumpkin you are happy with raise your hand. I will come over and print them. Then let you partner make one, and I will print that one.

Finally turn your paper over. This of what else you could do with a pumpkin. Think about what foods you could eat, or how you could use it as a decoration. Then think up two more living things that you like. And tell me the cycle of this living thing.
