WHY MAKE MULTIPLYING DISCIPLES?
• Christ gave us a number of commands:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and Love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27 (NIV)
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

- To be Obedient
For “disciples” Jesus used the Greek term, “methetes” meaning “one who follows another’s teaching, an imitator of the teacher.” Not, the
Greek term for “convert” meaning to “turn about or turn toward.”

WHY MAKE MULTIPLYING DISCIPLES?
• Christ described a DISCIPLE in relation to his TEACHER
A disciple is not above the teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.
Luke 6:40
The Lord is simply saying ‑ when you're fully trained you're going to be like your teacher.
Jesus made disciples; we are to do the same.

WHY MAKE MULTIPLYING DISCIPLES?
“By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be my disciples.”John 15:8
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. John 15:16
- To Glorify God
God is glorified by “fruit”–

Jesus spent time with His followers. His disciples had the opportunity to observe His reactions to the rich, the poor, the priests, and the politicians.

But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children. So, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.
I Thessalonians 2:7-9
- Like a Mother
…as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children, that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

Principles Of Life On Life Discipleship In The Church
1.Discipleship is the way for the true growth of an individual and of the church
2.Discipleship is the bridge between evangelism, church planting (quantitative goals) to likeness of Christ and God’s glorification (un-measurable goals)
3.It is possible to have evangelism without discipleship, but it is impossible to have discipleship without evangelism.

Process Of Life On Life Discipleship In The Church
The process may be developed according to the context, but it should
fulfill the following goals:
1. Establishing the disciple in the fellowship of the believers
2. Establishing the disciple in the Word of God
3. Establishing the disciple in the church
4. Establishing the disciple in the ministry of Christ
The end result – in the disciple we will see the knowledge of the
Word of God, personal identity, accountability and responsibility.

Stories Of Life On Life Discipleship In The Church
The experience of Hope Baptist Church Brasov
Understanding the social situation – at the moment the church has 250 members, a bigger
attendance on Sunday morning than the number of members in a context when in one year 70 church
members left the country to work abroad.

Practical Application
1. Determine the foundational truth of the Word of God on which the disciple
should stand firm and build his/her life (at Hope we had 16 Bible truths –
starting with understanding Salvation, security of salvation and ending up
with the Judgment seat of Christ);
2. Determine the process by which you (the community) make disciples and
stick to it (personal discipleship, small group discipleship, etc. – at Hope
Church the practice was one on one discipleship);
3. Evaluate from time to time the process and people;
4. Remember – discipleship means life sharing, not just knowledge or
catechism.

Discussion For Personal Application
1. What did you learn about the process of making multiplying
Disciples?
2. What role do you see yourself playing in God's strategy for
making multiplying disciples?
3. What barriers might be in your way? How can you remove those
barriers?
4. What questions do you have for Marius and Paul?

“Laborers are few. They were few in Jesus’ day and they are few today. Churchgoers are many. Seminars are many. Conferences are
many. Religious institutions are many. Programs are many. But laborers are few.”
