Together,  set  up  a  pretend  shop  with  food  items.  Take  turns  at  being  the  shopkeeper  and  customer.  Model  and  encourage  your  child  to  use  the  language  and  phrases  we  say  in  shops.    Extend  by  encouraging  your  child  to  mark  make  (write  or  draw)  to  create  a  shopping  list.    Some  stories  to  share  and  talk  about:  Oliver’s  Vegetables  https://youtu.be/2yvllKqyVUc    Handa’s  Surprise  https://youtu.be/UuMS5UQ1kyE    Vegetable  Glue  https://youtu.be/Fru0XOaebsI

Use  vegetables  to  print  repeating  patterns.  Initially,  your  child  may  just  like  to  explore  printing  with  the  vegetables  and  talking  about  the  shapes  each  vegetable  creates.  With  encouragement  and  modelling,  your  child  can  start  to  create  a  repeating  pattern  with  2  different  colours  or  vegetables.  Extend  this  to  3  or  more  if  your  child  is  confidently  making  repeated  patterns.

 Counting  and  number  games:  https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zjkphbk/articles/zd4b382

*If  you  are  teaching  your  child  to  write  their  name,  please  use  a  capital  letter  to  start  with  and  lower  case  letters  for  the  remainder  of  the  name.  We  do  not  expect  you  to.  Only  try  if  they  are  showing  interest.  Otherwise,  any  kind  of  drawing,  lines  or  their  own  pretend  writing  is  perfect.

Try  some  of  these  healthy  recipes  for  cooking  with  young  children:  https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/collection/kids-‐cooking    Encourage  your  child  to  use  their  senses  to  explore  new  and  familiar  foods.  Use  a  blindfold  and  encourage  your  children  to  feel  and  guess  what  fruit  or  vegetable  you  have  given  them.  Encourage  them  to  discuss  how  it  feels,  the  size  and  weight,  if  it  has  a  stalk,  leaves  or  skin.  Use  a  blindfold  again  to  smell  the  fruit  or  vegetable.  Talk  about  how  it  smells  and  if  they  like  it  or  not.    Using  fruits  and  vegetables  at  home,  discuss  which  have  grown  underground  or  on  trees.

In  addition  to  the  activities  for  nursery  children  on  the  EYFS  page,  the  suggestions  here  are  for  2-‐4  year  olds.    Older  children  will  enjoy  taking  part  as  well.  There  is  no  expectation  that  you  complete  all  of  these  activities.    If  you  would  like  to  share  any  of  your  child’s  learning  or  news  please  use  Tapestry  or  our  new  EYFS  email  address      montgomeryeyfs@ecfschools.org.uk    We  look  forward  to  seeing    anything  you  share  with  us.

Keeping  in  Touch

Please  take  a  look  at  Tapestry  for  teaching  videos  that  will  be  uploaded  by  the  EYFS  team  this  week.

Butterfly  printing–  Can  you  create  a  colourful  butterfly?

Talk  about  how  the  paint  has  mixed  and  changed.    What  do  you  notice  about  you  print?    Does  it  look  the  same  on  both  sides?    Why  could  this  be?

Whilst  thinking  about  healthy  eating,  try  singing  and  moving  to  some  action  songs  to  help  to  help  your  child  name  their  body  parts.    Heads  shoulders  knees  and  toes,  The  Hokey  Cokey,  One  Finger  One  Thumb.    Try  some  Banana  Yoga:    https://youtu.be/40SZl84Lr7A    Make  your  own  obstacle  course:  https://www.bbc.co.uk/tiny-‐happy-‐people/building-‐obstacle-‐courses/zh7nv82
