About......• Birth on 5th Sept 1959 on as a part of All India Radio New Delhi.

• Govt. of India constituted Doordarshan as public T V Broadcaster in 1976.

• Actual development happened during Delhi Asian Games in 1982.

• One of the largest broadcasting organization in the world .

• Doordarshan operates with 35 channels classified as:

07 All India Channels,

11 Regional Language Satellite Channels,

15 State Network & International Channels,

01 HDTV Channel,

01 DD India Channel.

2000 artificial satellites are orbiting Earth.

Satellite Communication uses Geo- stationary satellites

(35,786 km height from earth along the equitorial plane)

and operates mostlyin C- band (6/4 GHz)

& Ku-band (14/11 GHz) for TV broadcasting.

Satellite in use: INSAT 4B

Launched by ISRO in 2007,uses powerful Ku band transponders.

Orbit Type: Geosynchronous Satellite.Orbital Location: 93.5 degree East.

Outside Broadcasting Van i.e. OB Van is a “mobile Production & Control Room ”, i.e. the combination of T V Studio & PCR.

H P T PitampuraHigh Power Transmitters ( H P T) are used

for terrestrial transmission.

92% population can receive DD programs through the network of 1415 terrestrial

transmission.

H P T Pitampura is started in Delhi on 7th

Nov. 1988 by Hon’ble Sh. Rajiv Gandhi;The prime minister of India.

total height of H P T pitampura: (235mtrs)=RCC(165mtrs)+Steel(70mtrs).

Coverage area 85 km radius in Delhi NCR.
