Overview

This project will go through a series of steps, converting various types of energy forms to result in a final action

Purpose

This project will go through a process of steps and in the end shoot a gun at the desired target (a.k.a. Betsy)

Materials

cardboard, pens, marbles, string, wood, billiard ball, dart gun, picture of Betsy, cup, funnel, and various adhesive materials

The very beginning of a masterpiece

Construction

Adding the final touches…

Process Step 1: A marble drops down a funnel converting

potential energy (mgh) kinetic energy (½ mv2)

Step 2: Rolls down two ramps- again converting PE to KE- then is caught in a cup which pulls up a gate, releasing a billiard ball, producing work (F*d)

Step 3: The billiard ball falls into a cup which pulls down on a string looped over a pulley (F*d), which pulls the spring released trigger (½ kx2)

Conclusion

Mission

Accomplished!

Through many trials and changes of product and goal we were finally able to come up with a project that conserves energy and works.

YAY!
