Learn how to digitally sign PDF documents using CoSign digital signatures.

Digitally Signing

PDF Documents

To begin signing, right-click on the PDF document.

Select Sign with CoSign from the drop down menu.

To sign the document, click on the CoSign Create and Sign a new signature field icon.

Drag the signature field to the desired location.

You may be prompted to enter your username and/or password.

Note: Your username is the email address you entered during your CoSign registration.

Your password is the password you selected during your registration/installation process.

The digital signature is applied to the document.

The signature panel provides details about the signature.

By selecting Validate from the drop down menu…

A green check appears indicating that the signature is valid.

The PDF is signed and sealed.

Note: The first time a CoSign digital signature is validated using Adobe Acrobat/Reader, users must configure security preferences in Acrobat/Reader.

For the initial set up, begin by configuring the Digital Signature Advanced Preferences.

Select Edit and Preferences from the drop down menu.

Highlight Security…

…and select Advanced Preferences.

Check all boxes within the Windows Integration tab.

Continue by clicking OK.

Any third party may validate the signature, by simply opening the signed PDF in Adobe Reader.

The Signature Panel indicates that the signature is valid.

Right-clicking on Sarah’s signature will also validate her signature.

The Signature Validation Status indicates that Sarah’s signature is valid.
