Today,IwanttotalkaboutChristmasgifts.Yes,Iknowthatitisn’tevenHalloweenyetasIwritethis,andyouwillbereadingitwell

beforeThanksgiving.Butbeforeyouhitthemallsandthemailorder,Ihavesomesuggestions.

First,insteadofanotherthingforpeopleonyourlist,especiallypeoplewhodon’tneedanyparticular“things”,consideradonationintheirnametoaworthycause.OurchurchministrieswouldbehappytosendarecognitioncardforChristmas,andherearesomeideas:

• $15–abagoffoodforafamilyfromECS

• $30–anewchoiranthem

• $180–foodforafamilyofthreeforayearfromECS

• $300–thecostofmealsforupto200peopleatourSaturdaylunch

• $325–acampscholarship

• $500–brassandtympaniforaChristmasorEasterservice

Vestry UpdateAttheOctoberMeeting,GaryFunderlichofferedanoverviewof

theroleofvestriesandothernon-profitboards.Garyhasconsiderableexperienceworkingwithcorporateboards,andheissharingthoseexperienceswithusinaseriesofpresentations.InNovember,wewilllookatvestryrolesandrecruitingboardmembersinpreparationforourJanuaryAnnualMeetingandvestryelections.

ThevestryalsoreviewedtheprogressoftheBelieve and Prepare Capital Campaign.Wehavealreadyreceived$101,730ofthe$203,165pledgedforthefive-yearcampaignendingin2019.Inaddition,wehavereceivedover$40,000ingiftstothecampaignoverandabovewhatwasoriginallypledged.Duetoillnessandotherunexpectedreasons,weexpectnottocollectabout$25,000inpledges.

Wehavecontractedfor$170,966inworktodate,includingexteriorbuildingwork,anewsignandrefurbishingouroldsign,andsealingourparkinglots.Wehavereceivedbidsforanadditional$21,000worthofworkdealingwiththeroofsandmortaroftheAllenHalladditions.Beforemovingforwardwiththatwork,thevestrydecidedtocontactourarchitects,HHSDR,andgettheirinput,aswell.FutureplannedworkalsoincludesreplacingthePlexiglasprotectingourstainedglasswindows,airconditioningtheupstairsdiningroom,andrepairingthreeranksoforganpipes.
