Dr Chen’s has been actively involved in mixed-use realestate development, including several Public-PrivatePartnership (PPP) projects, in his 30+ years career.

Having been part of the pioneering team 17 years ago of thehighly successful Mid Valley City development betweenKuala Lumpur City Hall and Mid Valley City Sdn Bhd (amember of the IGB Group of Companies) as a PPP, Dr Chenis now its Director of Project Development.

Though qualified as a Professional Civil Engineer, Dr Chenhas moved on to a career with wide business andmanagement expertise. Dr Chen’s forte is in planning andhe is an astute observer of trends and events.

In addition to being a corporate man, Dr Chen is also anentrepreneur; having completed a mixed-use developmentin Kuala Lumpur in the 90s with his personal associates.

Dr Chen earned an honours degree in Civil Engineeringfrom the premier University of Malaya, a GraduateDiploma in Business and Management from SEGIUniversity College, a MBA from the industry-drivenUniversity of The Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australiaand a PhD in Business Administration from the Tarlac StateUniversity, a 106-years old institution designated as aCentre of Excellence in the Philippines.

Dr Chen now divides his time between teaching at theMalaysia University of Science and Technology as anIndustry Professor of Management and completing the lastphase of the mammoth Mid Valley City development.

Internationally, Dr Chen is a member of the NationalCouncil of Public Private Partnerships (NCPPP), USA andUrban Land Institute (ULI), USA.

IntroductionParticipants will be taken through a series of exciting global case studies of mixed-use development projects. Theirsuccess will be analyzed and lessons drawn. Adoption of mixed-use development is then advocated.
