What is animal testing?*When people are really ill they need

medication to make them better but before you can have the medication the medication gets tested on animals and can kill the animals after they have been tested on. The animals don’t just get tested on medication they also get tested on makeup and other things.

What kind of animals get tested on?

*Lots of different animals get tested on such as monkeys, squirrels, mice, rats,dogs,hamsters,cats and lots more.

*The animals get tested on make up and medication … they test medication on animals because it can be highly dangerous if tested on humans first.

*Facts about animal testing!

*1. in labs small animals such as hamsters, rats and mice are usually kept in clear white boxes about the size of a shoe box.

*2. Almost every medical treatment you use has been tested on animals.

*3. About 14 million rats and mice was used in research in 2012.

*4. More than 2.5 million live animal experiments were authorised in Great Britain in 2000.

*5. British law requires that any new drug must be tested on at least two different species of live mammal.
