Alumni Association

The relationship between the University and its Alumni is stewarded through the Alumni Association, which exists to:

“Foster and encourage a continuing liaison and good relations between the University of Sunderland and its alumni.”

What does the Alumni Office do in practice?Relationship management

– build & strengthen partnerships– acts as an intermediary between the University and its

alumni

Offer a range of benefits & services, including:– Regular communication (e-newsletter, invitations,

annual magazine, website)

– Discounts (University services & external companies)

Development Office – Kimberley

• Act as ambassador to convey University and Development objectives

• Work towards maintaining, building and developing relationships with key supporters

• Develop and maintain appropriate administrative systems

• Work with both the Development Trust and the Alumni Association to achieve these goals

Development Office – Andy

• Act as an ambassador to convey University and Development objectives

• Develop fundraising programmes to ensure sustainable fundraising

• Act as a central point for co-ordinating philanthropic support for the University

• Work with the Alumni Association• Raise some money!

Futures Fund

What is the Futures Fund?• The Futures Fund is a part-endowed fund that supports

excellence and opportunity for those studying at the University, now and into the future.

The Fund focuses support in the following areas:

• Futures Fund Scholarships:– Professional Development Awards– Opportunity Awards– Excellence Awards

• Futures Fund Projects including: – The University Disability Support Team– Formula Student

How do we intend raising funds?

Focus on Programmes• Annual Fund Programme• Major Gift Programme• Legacy Programme

Matched Funding Bid

The Development Office is bidding for extra resources through UUK Matched Funding Programme.

• A way for the office to achieve its aims and objectives faster.

• £250,000 Investment in both Staff & Systems 2006-2009

• By end of three year period will be generating over £1.5million a year in philanthropic gifts.
