Page rank impacts ranking

Why Page Rank Matters

Poor•Aka supplemental•Pages deemed poor receive less activity

Main•Pages deemed valuable•Use site: search to determine

New•Content deemed timely or new•Specials, calendars, blog posts, etc.

Page Rank is scored 0 – 10 Use the Google Toolbar to see PR PR is specific to the page you are looking at

◦ But it is believed that Google also has a domain-level equivalency that captures the rank of an entire website

Most hotels and resorts are in the 4-5 range Moving up a point is difficult Page Rank is generated by links from interior

pages of your website and exterior links from other websites.

Page Rank

Very “rough” indicator. A 4.1 is a lot different than a 5.9◦ Google purposefully withholds information…PR

itself may be an algorithmic anachronism

Not directly related to SE success

Backwards looking and dated

An easy word to throw around, but perhaps not the most appropriate word.

Problems with Page Rank

Authority: Are related to your niche. There may be super-authority websites.

Trust: Websites that have quality inbound and outbound links.

Qualified Traffic: Websites that send you qualified traffic should be the primary measurement.

Good Listings: Websites

Blizzard Internet can help you get good listings!

Make sure that the type of listings page you are acquiring gets indexed by search engines

What is potential PR of your listings page?

Whole dedicated page vs multiple-listing page. Intent of page.

Like a website, a page can have page rank, authority and perhaps even trust.

Good Listings: Your Page

Factors that can impact the value of a listing: Theme Elements:

◦ Title of Page◦ Description of Page◦ Link and Anchor Text◦ Body Text

Duplicate Content Usability

Good Listings: Keyword Context

It won’t send a qualified visitor It is on a cheesy website… pass the sniff

test Having too many links to your homepage -

Deeplinking may be important Outbound linking from your website to poor

quality websites. Poor domain diversity No-follow tags??

What Makes a Link Bad?

PR becomes less important.
