RENAISSANCE: WHAT IS IT?

• Renaissance uses “Real World” Strategies of Rewarding, Recognizing, Respecting, and Reinforcing excellence and improvement in our students and teachers.

Webster’s Definitions• BRIBE - Any valuable consideration given or

promised with a view to corrupting the behavior of a person.

• REWARD - Something given or received in return or recompense for service, merit, hardship, or achievement.

• INCENTIVE - That which incites to action.• MOTIVE - Something that prompts a person to act

in a certain way.

IF WE KEEP DOING WHAT WE’VE ALWAYS DONE -

STAFF PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT:Ideas to motivate staff:

• Print business cards for all staff, including support personnel.

• Create pin with school’s academic logo. Order portfolios with academic logo imprint.

• Develop exclusive academic sportswear similar to that worn by coaches & athletes.

• Create staff awards, i.e. teacher of the month, best attendance record, etc…

• Have administrator take on a class for a day giving the teacher a day off for outstanding work.

• Plan special fellowship events, like ice cream served by STUCO, breakfast hosted by parents, etc…

• Generate publicity for teacher professionalism in local publications.

• Highlight staff in weekly staff blog• Ask former students to come back and speak

at a faculty meeting honoring their accomplishments.

• Start a “Student Thank You” letter program.• “Gold Star” pins for lanyard or name badge
