Who should attend: Grades K-12 teachers, administrators, learning coaches, trustees, IT members, pre-service teachers, librarians About this day of learning:   This se ssion will int roduc e yo u to the Makerspaces movement in education and learn how K-12 schools, teachers and students are creating and designing interactive and hands-on learning experiences through cross curricular competency/project- based approaches. You will also expand your knowledge of Design  Thinking and develop a prot otype through a desig n challenge. This learning opportunity with Dr. Susan Crichton, ETCATA team and K-12 teachers will share the research, impact and strategies for you to develop your own interactive learning opportunities for students in your classroom/at your school. K-12 teachers - will be introducing their projects (ie. lego, animation, musical recording, MakeyMakey , 3D printing, Genius hour , Innovation week, ePub, iBooks, programming, coding, etc.) during the break- out sessions. Once these teachers and their sessions have been identied, all register ed participants will be notied to register for specic breakout sessions. Dr. Crichton has taught in rural and urban K-12 schools in British Columbia, California and Australia. She was a faculty member at the University of Calgary in the specialization of Educational Technology. She is a visiting professor with Aga Khan University - Institute of Educational Development, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and a Fellow of the Commonwealth Centre of Education, University of Cambridge.
