Superior Features of Akar-Flow-Air Aerators
Akar-Flo-Air Aerators operate round the clock, all through the year under adverse conditions. The design imparts robustness and good appearance with durability and efficiency. One of the most important reasons for Akar-Flo-Air Aerators' superior performance is due to their precisely engineered and manufactured components and balanced rotating assemblies. Imbalance of rotating parts is one single most prominent source of failures of floating aerators; which is taken care of in Akar Aerators.
All MS/CS shafts in Akar-Flo-Air Aerators are chrome hardened and dynamically balanced. This drastically improves the strength and imparts smoother flow of directing water jet. Balanced design ensures trouble free operation of Akar -Flo-Air Aerators for years.
All shaft surfaces in contact with Water / Oil seal contact surfaces are centreless ground to ensure trouble free and leak proof working for longer duration. This enables smooth operation of the aerator reducing frictional drag and enhanced seal life.
Optionally a Stainless Steel Net is provided to protect the impeller from getting damaged by hard materials such as flints and stones as well as soft materials that tend to entwine around impller/shaft.
The central shaft is generally coupled to facilitate easy removal in case of problem with motors. The coupled assembly allows easy dismounting of motors from the assembly without having to dismantle the entire aerator. This means simple and easy removal and reassembly; leading to low down time. Dismounting of motor can be done even by an unskilled worker.
Akar has been manufacturing Akar-Flow-Air Aerators for the last twenty plus years for a vast variety of applications. Many of them are operating in slaughter houses, denim factories and chemical plants where operating conditions are very tough and so different from each other. Akar has learned to design their equipment such that meets all these operating conditions with equal ease. TEFC IP-55 ELECTRIC INDUCTION MOTOR
Vertical Flange Mounted, 415 volts, 3 phase, 50 Hzs frequency, high efficiency motors are used with IP-55 protection as standard. Motors are totally enclosed, fan cooled, squirrel cage and designed for continuous operation. Higher protection and specialized motors are supplied optionally. Standard motors are high efficiency and vibration tested for optimum performance in the most stringent applications. Generally top brand motors such as Kirloskar, Crompton, ABB and other equivalent only, are used as a standard feature. They have heavy-duty bearings and seals, class F insulation or better and a minimum 1.15 service factor
FRP FLOAT
The float is the most prominent feature of the Floating Aerator. It keeps the assembly afloat in water. The standard float is of FRP construction made from high class impact resistance fibre reinforced plastic materials. It has reinforcement ribs imparting further strength to the structure. The float is provided with four anchor eyes for mooring rope or chains if required. The entire aerator assembly is mounted on float. The float provides for stability and floatation. All floats are filled with Poly Urethene foam (P.U.F.) for protection against any possible damages causing leakage. Apart from standard FRP floats, SS floats are also offered as optional on specific demand.
Impeller is a three blade design. The three blade design impells higher quantity of water and yet operates smoothly due to its well balanced shape. The impeller is heavy steel and withstands heavy shock loads of water hammer as well as impact load caused by solids if any solid manages to pass through the protective net already provided. It features robust design for continuous non-clog operation for a long life under the most ardous conditions with greater operating efficiency.
ROBUST AND EFFICIENT IMPELLER / PROPELLER
Cast steel housing ensures impact bearing operation, smooth trajectory of the water jet and provides the bulk (heavy weight) for stabilizing the aerator. The housing encloses all important transmission intermediates such as the shaft, impeller, bush, lock, retainer cap, seals etc. The housing also acts as a backbone of the floating aerator. It imparts robustness and strength to the aerator.

HIGH DISSOLVED OXYGEN DISPERSING DRAFT TUBE
Draft Tube Assembly is a standard feature on all Akar-Flow-Air Floating aerators. Draft tubes are volute extensions used to extend the intake of the aerator to a greater depth. The objective is to aerate greater water mass by sucking out water located away from the surface to impart uniform distribution of dissolved oxygen over a larger periphery of water mass to be treated. All draft tubes are provided with a solid trap net. This net prevents solid particles such as flints, stones from hitting impeller and causing damage. It also protects plastic bags and such items from entering into the aerator and causing excessive load on the motor. Standard draft tube is made in MS or CS steel. However, on demand SS draft tubes can also be supplied.
DIFFUSION HEAD (FLOW DISTRIBUTOR HEAD)
Akar-Flow-Air Aerators diffusion head is designed to withstand the constant stress created by the up-flow spray of the aerator. Its strong flanged connection to the volute ensures that minimum stress is placed on the connections and that no vibration or fatigue results. The carefully designed contours ensure that the water jet is directed just above the float in such a way as to ensure maximum aeration at the same time reduce foaming and spraying the atmosphere. The flow diffusion head is made in CS as a standard practice but can be offered in SS on demand as optional.
Akar is one of the few companies, which offers coupled assembly. This is huge plus point, particularly in countries where power supply may be erratic or voltage fluctuations are frequent. Apart from the fact that Akar-Flo-Air Aerators are far sturdier than other conventional designs, they offer the most important advantage over single shaft floating aerators. There are hundreds of Akar-Flo-Air Floating Aerators operating in many parts of the world over years; where they are operating round the clock. The design makes it easy to dismount the motor without having to open the entire assembly. This helps in the locations, where electric supply is erratic and the motor is subject to frequent problems, requiring motor removal for repairs or replacement. There is one more unique advantage. The motor guide flange encompassing the coupling isolates motor from water jet thus reducing moisturization of any electric components and avoiding water ingress in electric motor.
SUPERIOR COUPLED DESIGN FOR EASY DISMOUNTING
All Akar -Flo-Air Aerator motors are provided with FRP motor covers. This eliminates any possibility of Akar -Flo-Air Aerators from getting wet due to either exposure to rain (since generally floating aerators are exposed to sky) or dust. It protects motor from direct sun rays. Being of FRP, the cover durability is long. it is not affected by moisture and lasts longer. Openings are given to provide ventilation to the motor.

For Floating Aerators with Motor Ratings
higher than 30 H.P., Akar manufactures
and supplies ATF-FLO range. These are
triple float Floating Aerators. The
arrangements of the floats, anchors,
motor and other structure is indicated in
the diagram below. These aerators
provide far more stability and ease of
operation. The structure consists of
three arms upon which the motor
assembly rests. These arms and the
motor assembly is supported by three floats, which have requisite buoyance to maintain required
stability and floatation properties. A number of such Floating Aerators are supplied and are operating
in sugar mills, pulp and paper mills and breweries. (Technical specs are available on demand)
To provide for easy removal of the aerator this method desirable. Here extra length of rope or chain is provided to facilitate withdrawal.
In exceptional circumstances where the aerator is to be fixed on a platform with constant water level, this method is recommended.
This is the most common method of mooring where water level is not constant.
Where it is not possible to moor the aerator to the shore and it is possible to anchor rope to the floor, this method is recommended.
