An opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Senior Nurse – Child Protection to join NHS Fife Acute Services.

You should have extensive experience of working with children, young people and their families, as well as expert knowledge of child protection, legislation and policies. A post registration qualification in Child Protection or evidence of working towards it is essential to fulfil the requirements of this post.

This post offers an exciting opportunity for a nurse, with a keen interest in continence care to lead the NHS Fife continence service to enhance care and develop new and existing services.

The Team Leader Continence Service role will oversee delivery of continence care to service users such as comprehensive continence assessments, coordinating the management of continence problems and have the oversight of the provision of continence products. The role involves working in partnership across primary care in the H&SCP whilst maintaining strong links within the acute division such as urology and gynaecology specialist nursing services. The role will involve supporting a wide range staff with education and training as well as leading and managing the continence team. This includes working collaboratively with agencies and organisations outside the NHS such as council and privately owned Nursing and Care Homes.

You should have significant experience supporting patients to manage continence, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a wider team.

You must also have the ability to travel throughout Fife.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to work as a Renal Recipient Transplant Coordinator within our Renal service in NHS Fife. Early identification, effective assessment and preparation of Patients with End Stage Renal Failure are key to this role in ensuring patients are timely listed for Transplantation.

You will work closely with the nephrologists, transplant surgeon, senior nursing team and participate in the transplant multi-disciplinary team meetings. You will also work closely with colleagues in the regional Transplant Centre in Edinburgh.

You should be a qualified Nurse with significant Renal experience with a genuine interest in working with Renal patients and a keen desire to develop within the service. You should have evidence of significant post registration professional practice to undertake and fulfil the key areas for this post.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative candidate to work as an Advanced Acute Frailty Practitioner within our Integrated Assessment Team at the front door. Early identification, effective assessment and management of frailty have been identified as significant priorities for NHS Fife to optimise patient outcomes. The Integrated Assessment team is a rapidly developing multidisciplinary team which provides comprehensive assessment for patients who are identified as having frailty syndromes to ensure effective identification of patient pathways and destination of care is reached in a timely manner. You should be a qualified Nurse or registered AHP with significant acute care and frailty experience with a passion for working with older people and a keen desire to develop within this dynamic service. Non medical prescribing and clinical decision making qualifications are an ultimate requirement for this post and you will be expected to work towards obtaining these skills.

You should have evidence of significant post registration professional practice experience to undertake and fulfil the key areas for this post including completion of relevant postgraduate courses to masters degree level, or working towards master degree level or ability to demonstrate working at masters degree level appropriate to clinical area.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Advanced Practitioners who already possess the Non medical prescribing and clinical assessment skills qualifications. We will however consider staff with suitable experience of working within this scope of practice, who have a desire to develop and become an advanced Practitioner through completion of the above qualifications. This post will be based within Integrated Assessment Team who provide cover in Admissions Unit 1 which comprises 37 beds and 7 Assessment trolleys, but the team provide support to all front door areas, i.e. Emergency Department and Surgical Admissions Unit.

The service is modern, innovative and provides care across Fife in a variety of settings from hospital based clinics to the university campus. The service also works closely with third sector partners and the wider community.

You will ideally have experience in all aspects of sexual health care and be an independent nurse prescriber. You who have a keen interest in working in the specialty but do not yet have these skills will be considered under the Annex 21 agreement where full training will be given at a percentage of the Band 6 salary with the candidate progressing to the full salary on completion of predetermined competencies.

A variety of hours and working patterns are available. The service works on a Monday –Friday basis and provides a daytime and evening service.

In line with the national arrangements for pay and banding of trainees, this post is open to suitable individuals who can demonstrate an ability to develop in to the role of Nurse Practitioner following the successful completion of a structured academic and in-house training programme.

Individuals who meet the full requirements of a Nurse Practitioner role will commence on Band 6 pay scale. Ward 31 is a 23 bedded ward. We are a very busy ward with a predominately high number of frail elderly patients, some of which suffer from delirium or dementia. Many of these patients suffer from acute medical issues.

You will be joining a well motivated and dynamic multi-disciplinary team who strive to deliver the highest level of care possible.

Previous orthopaedic experience would be advantageous. Candidates as would experience or an interest in delivering patient centred care to patients with dementia. You should be able to work well under pressure and be able to cope with the constant demands of a busy ward environment. Extended clinical skills would be desirable. i.e. be proficient in Venepuncture, Cannulation, Male/Female catheterisation, ECG skills, Syringe Drivers, IV Antibiotics.

An opportunity has arisen within the Children’s Unit for a band 2 nursing auxiliary role. The role within the ward involves working with the medical and nursing team providing holistic, family centered care to children and families.

The ward has 26 beds which includes High Dependency Unit, Short stay assessment area and inpatient ward for both surgical and medical patients.

The client group is diverse. We work closely with the Children’s Hospice in Kinross providing shared care for children with life limiting conditions.

This role includes basic patient care, infection control standards for the paediatric areas, ordering stock, rotation of stock and the use of IT systems and processes required.

Staff are encouraged and supported to extend skills within their role.

Our areas are welcoming for children and families using our service. The service is also supported by play team staff that help to provide play therapy and distraction to children.

Full orientation to areas will be given with the support of other team members.

If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up post. Within these areas a range of shifts are available including core shifts, 12 hour shifts and rotational shift patterns.   We are happy to consider applications covering full time or part-time hours. 

You will be required to demonstrate your ability to meet the needs of a 24/7 service within a busy acute setting with the flexibility to work across sites where necessary.

You must have effective communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate your commitment to patient care. An active interest in working within either of these areas and the ability to rise to the challenge of working within a fast paced setting are essential. You will be willing to undertake any training as required.

If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up post. It is expected that you complete this qualification, which will be fully funded by NHS Fife. Your Line Manager will provide you with more information once you are in post.

We are looking to welcome up to new 6 new colleagues to join an enthusiastic, motivated and supportive Emergency Department team. You will work in the Emergency Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, which opened in 2012. The department has an annual attendance of 65000.

The department includes an 8 bay resuscitation area, a 9 bay majors area, a 6 bay minors area and 2 paediatric consulting rooms. There is a dedicated Procedures room and a 6 bedded Emergency Medicine Observation Unit which admits primarily toxicology and head injury patients. There is access to electronic pathology and radiology ordering. Departmental guidelines, protocols and rotas are on the departmental intranet web pages. We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target.

The Emergency Department has 24 hour senior doctor presence, (11 Consultant Emergency physicians 9.85 WTE) with current shop floor consultant presence daily from 0800 to 2300. We have 4 GPwSI who deliver regular sessions in evenings and at weekends. There are daily ENP sessions to help with the minors flow.

There is a co-located GP OOH service in the evenings and at weekends, allowing redirection of appropriate patients. A formal redirection policy is in operation.

There is a 24 hour ENP-led Minor Injuries Unit Located at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline which is clinically supported by the senior doctors in the Emergency Department.

These posts will be appointed to for 1 year During this period, you will work for four months as an additional member of the junior tier (maximum 48 hours per week), with shop floor teaching focusing on prioritisation of workload, formulation of investigation and management plans. There will be scheduled time spent at Virtual Fracture Clinic vetting, knee clinic, and assisting on the observation ward with patient review under consultant supervision. There will be opportunities for additional experience in other specialties such as ophthalmology and ENT. It is expected that successful candidates will complete any outstanding life support courses not yet done (ie APLS/ATLS), and Study Leave time will be given for this.

In addition, one month will be spent as a supernumerary trainee (maximum 40 hours per week) in anaesthesia gaining skills in basic airway assessment and management. One month will be spent on the junior rota in Paediatrics (maximum 40 hours per week) gaining and developing skills in assessment and management of paediatric patients including venepuncture and cannulation.

The second six months will involve working on the middle grade rota. You will have allocated CPD time of 8 hours per week. There will be the option to use these CPD sessions to allow a period of secondment to another specialty within NHS Fife.

Successful applicants will be encouraged to take part in departmental audit and in delivery of teaching sessions to junior colleagues and nursing staff with consultant support. Previous postholders have presented their CPD/audits at national conferences and have been successful in obtaining posts in ACCS EM training. You will be expected to maintain an e-portfolio and undertake regular appraisal. Each clinical development fellow will be allocated a consultant educational supervisor to support their clinical and professional development.

GP – 6 SESSIONS

Muiredge surgery is a well-established practice situated on the Fife coast, 10 minutes’ drive from Kirkcaldy and approximately 30-35 minutes’ drive from Dundee and Edinburgh.

We are looking for an enthusiastic GP to join our friendly team. We have 7,500 patients approx. and 5 FTE GPs. (Currently 5 partners and 2 salaried GPs, all part-time i.e. less than 9 sessions, min 5 sessions, max 8.)

We have 6 sessions to offer, due to the relocation of one of our salaried GPs to a practice nearer home, and would prefer to offer a partnership but are happy to negotiate.

We work from modern purpose built premises and offer: Training and teaching practice, with ample opportunity for personal

development. High QOF achiever in the past. We have maintained our registers and chronic

disease management clinics. EMIS clinical system, paper light practice. In house services such as minor surgery, family planning and child health

services. Innovative triage/clinical team involving our medical and nursing teams. On site district nurses. A wide range of visiting services such as psychiatry for the elderly,

psychology, midwifery, podiatry, dietetics and alcohol counselling. Close liaison with community palliative care nurses and health visitors. Golden Hello £10,727.
