This post offers an exciting opportunity for a nurse, with a keen interest in continence care to lead the NHS Fife continence service to enhance care and develop new and existing services.

The Team Leader Continence Service role will oversee delivery of continence care to service users such as comprehensive continence assessments, coordinating the management of continence problems and have the oversight of the provision of continence products. The role involves working in partnership across primary care in the H&SCP whilst maintaining strong links within the acute division such as urology and gynaecology specialist nursing services. The role will involve supporting a wide range staff with education and training as well as leading and managing the continence team. This includes working collaboratively with agencies and organisations outside the NHS such as council and privately owned Nursing and Care Homes.

You should have significant experience supporting patients to manage continence, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a wider team.

You must also have the ability to travel throughout Fife.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to work as a Renal Recipient Transplant Coordinator within our Renal service in NHS Fife. Early identification, effective assessment and preparation of Patients with End Stage Renal Failure are key to this role in ensuring patients are timely listed for Transplantation.

You will work closely with the nephrologists, transplant surgeon, senior nursing team and participate in the transplant multi-disciplinary team meetings. You will also work closely with colleagues in the regional Transplant Centre in Edinburgh.

You should be a qualified Nurse with significant Renal experience with a genuine interest in working with Renal patients and a keen desire to develop within the service. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative candidate to work as an Advanced Acute Frailty Practitioner within our Integrated Assessment Team at the front door. Early identification, effective assessment and management of frailty have been identified as significant priorities for NHS Fife to optimise patient outcomes. The Integrated Assessment team is a rapidly developing multidisciplinary team which provides comprehensive assessment for patients who are identified as having frailty syndromes to ensure effective identification of patient pathways and destination of care is reached in a timely manner. You should be a qualified Nurse or registered AHP with significant acute care and frailty experience with a passion for working with older people and a keen desire to develop within this dynamic service. Non medical prescribing and clinical decision making qualifications are an ultimate requirement for this post and you will be expected to work towards obtaining these skills.

You should have evidence of significant post registration professional practice experience to undertake and fulfil the key areas for this post including completion of relevant postgraduate courses to masters degree level, or working towards master degree level or ability to demonstrate working at masters degree level appropriate to clinical area.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Advanced Practitioners who already possess the Non medical prescribing and clinical assessment skills qualifications. We will however consider staff with suitable experience of working within this scope of practice, who have a desire to develop and become an advanced Practitioner through completion of the above qualifications. You will ideally have experience in all aspects of sexual health care and be an independent nurse prescriber. You who have a keen interest in working in the specialty but do not yet have these skills will be considered under the Annex 21 agreement where full training will be given at a percentage of the Band 6 salary with the candidate progressing to the full salary on completion of predetermined competencies.

ICASS (Integrated Community Assessment & Support Service) has the overall aim of improving the quality of care and outcomes for older people with the intention of allowing them to remain independent within their own homes or communities.

Nurse Practitioners work effectively as senior members of the Hospital at Home Team within ICASS ensuring the delivery of high quality, clinically effective care, utilising a high level of clinical skills and knowledge.

We are seeking skilled staff to join our established Hospital at Home service within the West Division. You will be required to deliver a high standard of safe and effective acute medical patient care within patient’s homes and must have the ability to work autonomously in this evolving service.

You should have a clinical decision making qualification at degree level or above. This should include the ability to work autonomously as a Nurse Practitioner as well as having clinical skills including venepuncture, ECG, IV additives and cannulation. A non-medical prescribing qualification would be desirable but not essential; however, it would be a requirement to undertake this in the future.

In line with the national arrangements for pay and banding of trainees, this post is open to suitable individuals who can demonstrate an ability to develop in to the role of Nurse Practitioner following the successful completion of a structured academic and in-house training programme.

Individuals who meet the full requirements of a Nurse Practitioner role will commence on Band 6 pay scale. Those applicants who are interested in developing in to the role, following the successful completion of academic qualifications, will commence on Band 5 pay scale in line with Agenda for Change Annex 21 (pay and banding of trainees). On successful completion of this programme you will transfer on to the Band 6 pay scale.

You will have good communication skills and have a flexible attitude to work. The ability to travel within the area in a timely manner is essential.

These posts involve flexibility to work over a 7 day period, working shifts covering the period from 08.00 – 22.00 hours

We are currently recruiting Nurses to Acute Medicine of the Elderly wards in Victoria Hospital. We are looking for nurses who wish to develop skills in Medicine of the Elderly as well as nurses who are experienced in this specialty. With the increasing number of frail older people in the population, there is an innovative frailty assessment in place at the front door point of admission which helps to identify appropriate acute admissions into Acute medicine of the elderly wards. The experience available to you in Medicine of the Elderly will enable you to develop a range of skills which will be transferrable to many care settings and other inpatient specialties. It is a developing specialty which offers the opportunity to nurse patients with complex conditions and acute delirium and to gain experience in managing daily dynamic discharge on very busy, friendly wards which can be challenging but highly rewarding.

There are a variety of permanent and temporary, full time and part time positions available, including opportunity to second into an acute medicine of the elderly ward with sick and frail elderly patients. The wards are currently undergoing a period of transformation and we would welcome motivated caring staff into the team.

You will be joining a well motivated and dynamic multi-disciplinary team who strive to deliver the highest level of care possible. Ward 2 is a consultant led with 21 beds; the patients are predominantly elderly with complex medical needs. We are currently recruiting Clinical Fellows to join us in delivering high quality medicine to the adult population of Fife, working as part of the existing Acute Medical, Medicine for the Elderly and Rheumatology teams.

The Acute Medicine posts will be based within the Emergency Ambulatory Unit and Acute Medical Unit, and the Medicine for the Elderly posts will be based within the Acute Geriatric assessment wards, community hospitals and Hospital at Home. There is a full commitment to the acute medical rota (nights, weekends and long days at GPST/ CT1 level) with flexibility to allow acting up at Medical Registrar level for trainees with appropriate prior experience. The Rheumatology fellow will work within the Fife Rheumatic Diseases Unit with opportunity to develop specialist skills such as joint ultrasound and injection. For further information see job pack.

It is anticipated that applicants may wish to rotate through two or all of the above posts over 12 months (can be discussed on a case by case basis).

NHS FIFE POST OF CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT FELLOW IN EMERGENCY MEDICINE (6 POSTS)VICTORIA HOSPITAL, KIRKCALDYREF NO: HH746/01/18

We are looking to welcome up to new 6 new colleagues to join an enthusiastic, motivated and supportive Emergency Department team. You will work in the Emergency Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, which opened in 2012. The department has an annual attendance of 65000.

The department includes an 8 bay resuscitation area, a 9 bay majors area, a 6 bay minors area and 2 paediatric consulting rooms. There is a dedicated Procedures room and a 6 bedded Emergency Medicine Observation Unit which admits primarily toxicology and head injury patients. There is access to electronic pathology and radiology ordering. Departmental guidelines, protocols and rotas are on the departmental intranet web pages. We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target.

The Emergency Department has 24 hour senior doctor presence, (11 Consultant Emergency physicians 9.85 WTE) with current shop floor consultant presence daily from 0800 to 2300. We have 4 GPwSI who deliver regular sessions in evenings and at weekends. There are daily ENP sessions to help with the minors flow.

There is a co-located GP OOH service in the evenings and at weekends, allowing redirection of appropriate patients. A formal redirection policy is in operation.

There is a 24 hour ENP-led Minor Injuries Unit Located at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline which is clinically supported by the senior doctors in the Emergency Department.

These now well established posts support the provision of high quality patient care within the Emergency Department. It is aimed at post Foundation Year trainees who wish to broaden their clinical experience and receive excellent training in the

assessment and management of the undifferentiated patient and for the postholder to develop their training and portfolio.

These posts will be appointed to for 1 year During this period, you will work for four months as an additional member of the junior tier (maximum 48 hours per week), with shop floor teaching focusing on prioritisation of workload, formulation of investigation and management plans. There will be scheduled time spent at Virtual Fracture Clinic vetting, knee clinic, and assisting on the observation ward with patient review under consultant supervision. There will be opportunities for additional experience in other specialties such as ophthalmology and ENT. It is expected that successful candidates will complete any outstanding life support courses not yet done (ie APLS/ATLS), and Study Leave time will be given for this.

In addition, one month will be spent as a supernumerary trainee (maximum 40 hours per week) in anaesthesia gaining skills in basic airway assessment and management. One month will be spent on the junior rota in Paediatrics (maximum 40 hours per week) gaining and developing skills in assessment and management of paediatric patients including venepuncture and cannulation.

The second six months will involve working on the middle grade rota. You will have allocated CPD time of 8 hours per week. There will be the option to use these CPD sessions to allow a period of secondment to another specialty within NHS Fife.

Successful applicants will be encouraged to take part in departmental audit and in delivery of teaching sessions to junior colleagues and nursing staff with consultant support. Previous postholders have presented their CPD/audits at national conferences and have been successful in obtaining posts in ACCS EM training. You will be expected to maintain an e-portfolio and undertake regular appraisal. Each clinical development fellow will be allocated a consultant educational supervisor to support their clinical and professional development.
