The East Region Managed Clinical Network for Child Protection spans NHS Lothian, NHS Fife and NHS Borders, supporting and facilitating the delivery of consistent, equitable, high quality services to meet the needs of children, young people and their families who may have been victims of child abuse and neglect.

Due to the completion of the tenure of the current Lead Clinician, we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed clinician to take up this exciting role.

Applicants should be clinical leaders with extensive skills and experience in the provision of child protection services. You should currently be operating at a senior level within one of the 3 East Region Boards, and have demonstrable leadership experience and success, ideally across teams, organizations and sites. You will be expected to promote and lead the Network across the East Region and also represent regional interests at a national level. The ability to work across traditional Health Board boundaries and non-NHS organisations is essential as is the ability to manage change within a complex environment.

The appointment will be for a period of two years with a commitment of two sessions per week on a secondment basis. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced nurse to join our Blood Borne Virus team as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. You will have a special interest in HIV and frailty.

Based within the Health and Social Care Partnership this post spans many boundaries across acute and community settings and into multi-agency settings, working closely with third sector agencies to deliver care to those with Blood Borne Virus’s across Fife.

You will play a key role in further developing our pathway for supporting individuals with HIV who are experiencing frailty related co-morbidities and achieving the Scottish Government target of eradicating Hepatitis C by 2024.

You will be a innovative senior nurse with experience in Blood Borne Virus care or an associated speciality and have a keen interest in frailty. We are looking for an individual to join our Fife-wide team of Practice Education Facilitators (PEF) and Care Home Education Facilitator (CHEF). The Care Home Education Facilitator role is crucial in influencing the quality of the clinical learning environment by working closely with Fife Care Homes; providing support, educational input and development activities for mentors and nursing students. The role aims to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience and positively contribute to the future nursing workforce. This includes the development and maintenance of a positive learning environment within care home settings, where both education and lifelong learning are seen as integral to clinical practice. This post requires an individual who can work autonomously and proactively across Fife in a range of Care Home settings as well as part of the existing team. You will be required to be organised, flexible and have robust leadership and change management skills, for example in relation to performance review and support of mentor and students. You will have excellent interpersonal and communications skills working with a diverse range of staff and Higher Educational Institutions including representing NHS Fife at national and regional groups.Seen as an experienced practitioner you will both lead and facilitate practice education developments (practice learning) to support staff to make the necessary changes in their practice as required by the profession and the service and in line with related standards. Working with local and national initiatives you will promote and support staff to develop using resources such as Flying Start and Effective Practitioner. You will be a registered nurse or midwife, have experience as a mentor as well as supporting development and education sessions.

We are seeking to recruit to this post within the Nurse Led Surgical / Orthopaedic Pre-assessment Suite at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and Day Surgery Unit, Queen Margaret Hospital. This is an opportunity for an experienced senior nurse who should be educated to or working towards a nursing degree. You will work across both sites to meet the demands of the service.

The surgical / orthopaedic nurse practitioner is an autonomous practitioner who will support the Advanced Nurse Practitioner, working closely with other Nurse Practitioner colleagues, Consultant Anaesthetists and Surgeons in managing patients attending for elective surgical and orthopaedic procedures. The nurse practitioner will carry out a comprehensive medical assessment and manage the ongoing medical needs of elective patients to facilitate planned admission for surgery.

The purpose of this role is to assess and then optimise the health of patient’s pre operatively, liaise and plan admission with the surgical / orthopaedic wards and theatre and to support discharge planning. You will be expected to develop and expand the nurse practitioner role to meet the needs of patients and the service.

Heart, lung and abdominal assessment skills are essential as are 12 lead ECG interpretation skills. Training will be arranged where necessary. Clinical decision making skills and knowledge of the acute surgical / orthopaedic elective patient pathway is desirable. Non-Medical prescribing would be advantageous.

As a Nurse Practitioner you will be committed to continuous professional development and possess excellent communication and organisational skills. As an experienced nurse you will provide strong clinical support to, and work in partnership with the multi disciplinary team.

You would also be responsible for the personal and professional development of the staff you are managing and dealing with any staffing issues that may arise. You would be essential to the management team in discussing and taking forward any actions which affect the service such as clinical governance, health and safety, recruitment and selection, human resource issues, staff training, audit, documentation and attending local and national meetings representing the OT service to name but a few.

The Occupational Therapy service is a very busy service, as a result, this band 7 role is very dynamic, ever changing in response to the strategic direction of the Fife wide mental health service and at times can be both rewarding and challenging trying to balance many different demands and deadlines. You will receive an induction to the service and then will receive support and advice via formal monthly supervision, 1:1 management meetings, head occupational therapy meetings , peer support as well as informal support. The Intermediate Care Service provide rehabilitation and enablement to the adult population within the locality. This will be delivered to service users as in-patients, out-patients or within their own home.

The primary function of this role will be to work with the Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy & District Nursing Services within Intermediate Care to deliver therapeutic treatment programmes to service users in the ward setting or their own homes, preventing hospital admission and supporting early discharge from hospital.

Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists & District Nursing will provide specialist assessments to this patient group and allocate your work. You will primarily deal with the function of daily care in the community, a service provided 365 days of the year from 0800-2200.

You will have an SVQ Level III in Health and Social Care or equivalent. Experience working as a support worker would be desirable. It would also be desirable to have experience working with older people as they are the main group of service users referred. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team you will be expected to carry out ongoing treatment programmes for a mixed caseload of mainly older people. You will have good organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work independently as well as within the team. There may be occasions where you will be required to work in one of the other community hospital sites within the Division. You will be required to work 20 hours flexibly over 7 days. The ability to travel throughout the area is essential.

This rewarding role will involve delivering and developing clinical pharmacy services to both the community hospital network (CHN) and the Hospital at Home (H@H) service in the East Division. H@H is a multi-disciplinary interface service that provides hospital level care within the patient’s own home. The CHN includes a small number of specialist palliative care beds, into which the post holder would have input.

There are currently a team of experienced pharmacists and technicians providing care to the CHN and the Fife wide H@H service. You would be a welcome addition to the team and an integral member. You will be supported in your training and development; opportunities to undertake the NES Advanced Practice Training in MOE exist and are encouraged.

MOE as a speciality provides significant scope for pharmaceutical input. Pharmacy presence on the wards and as part of the H@H team is welcomed by the NHS Fife MOE Consultant and Nursing Teams. Applicants will be encouraged to review current service delivery and strive for opportunities for service development. Current pharmacy roles include: ward round and MDT attendance, undertaking polypharmacy reviews (in the ward and homely setting), discharge planning and assessment of patients’ ability to self-administer and manage their medicines. The successful appointee will also become a key member of the NHS Fife Specialist Palliative Care Service and provide support to the Palliative Care Community Pharmacy Network incorporating the Just in Case (JIC) Anticipatory Care service.

Applicants should have a sound clinical knowledge and a commitment to delivering high standards of pharmaceutical care. Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills are essential. Applicants must be both strong team players and be able to work independently.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for three registered nurses with an interest in nursing education to apply for a seconded clinical academic fellow (CAF) post within the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Dundee. This role provides an opportunity for a registered nurse with an interest in developing an academic career. Two posts will be based in Dundee in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences on the City Campus, and one will be based in our Kirkcaldy campus. The successful applicants will contribute to teaching on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules and will work with experienced teaching staff in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. The post-holders will be part of the academic community with opportunities to teach at post-registration and postgraduate levels. We are looking for graduate nurses (normally with or working towards a Master’s degree). We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have experience in advanced practice and community nursing but are also interested in applicants with experience across nursing, for example acute care, clinical skills, and care of older adults. Applicants should have a desire to develop clinical academic skills in teaching, and enthusiasm and commitment to developing and applying evidence to practice. The secondment will be for a fixed period of 12 months in the first instance with the possibility to renew for a further 12 months. The post will normally be 0.5 WTE. Development for the successful candidate will be focused on the individual appointee’s needs and will include an induction and orientation programme and the ongoing support of an identified mentor. Anyone wishing to discuss the secondment informally can contact Dr Linda Martindale, Associate Dean: Learning and Teaching on 01382 388534 or email [email protected]

MATERNITY LOCUM GP

Millhill Surgery is based in the historic town of Dunfermline with easy access to the motorways to Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

We work from purpose built premises. We are looking to recruit a GP to cover maternity leave from the beginning of January 2019 until the end of August 2019. These dates are negotiable and the post has the potential to be extended. The GP going on leave covers 8 sessions per week over 4 days.

This position may offer newly qualified GPs an opportunity to work in a supported environment to experience regular work whilst also exploring other opportunities. Our list size is approximately 9000 using EMIS and Docman. We have advanced nurse practitioners seeing out minor illness who support our GPs who are on 15 minute appointments.

We are a friendly team and the doctors meet several times during the day informally which allows the opportunity for catch up and continued learning. Our community staff are based in the practice including pharmacists, midwives, district nurses and health visitors.

You will be working with a highly motivated and enthusiastic group of GPs. We benefit from being a large Practice with a team of 9 GP Partners and 2 Salaried GPs. We employ an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Chronic Disease Nurses, a Practice Pharmacist, a Mental Health Counsellor and Health Care Support Workers to help with some of the work traditionally done by GPs. We have additional Health Board Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technician who deal with discharges and acute prescriptions. In the near future, we will have additional resources such as MSK Physiotherapy, Mental Health Triage Nurse and Advanced Nurse Practitioner. The Practice has an excellent administrative set-up and is highly organised and efficient.

We operate from two modern purpose-built premises in Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay and run a Consulting Room facility one day per week in Aberdour. There is easy parking in the area when out and about on house calls.
