Peter has come to the
home of Cornelius,
The Roman Centurion in
Caesarea,
At the direction of God's
Holy Spirit.
3
30-31 And Cornelius said, Four
days ago I was fasting until
this hour; and at the ninth
hour I prayed in my
house, and, behold, a man
stood before me in bright
clothing, and
said, Cornelius, thy prayer is
heard, and thine alms are had
in remembrance in the sight
of God.
This is the second
time Luke has
recorded this;
It must be
important.
4
Cornelius was a Roman Centurion, a Gentile.
But he prayed to the true God.
He was generous to God's people.
God sent an angel to him
to make certain that he
knew how to be saved.
5
Cornelius had been fasting and praying all day,
and now it's three o'clock in the afternoon.
He had prepared his heart for
prayer with fasting.
Fasting is not just abstaining from food.
Fasting is a time alone with God:
Worshipping, meditating, submitting to the Holy
Spirit, seeking a closer fellowship with Him.
6
32-33 Send therefore to Joppa, and call
hither Simon, whose surname is
Peter; he is lodged in the house of
one Simon a tanner by the sea side:
who, when he cometh, shall speak
unto thee. Immediately therefore I
sent to thee; and thou hast well done
that thou art come. Now therefore
are we all here present before
God, to hear all things that are
commanded thee of God.
7
Cornelius was seeking God, and the Will of God.
God told him everything he needed to doto get his answer.
God will not hide His Will from us, when we
have a true heart's desire to know and do.
God will make certain that we know what we
need to know to serve Him faithfully.
8
34-35 Then Peter opened his
mouth, and said, Of a Truth
I perceive that God is no
respecter of persons:
But in every nation he that
feareth Him, and worketh
righteousness, is accepted
with Him.
God gives everyone
the same opportunity
to know Him.
He gives to every person "the measure of faith"
to believe in Jesus unto salvation.
9
Peter did not say that it was acceptable with God
for people to willfully live in sin.
35 But in every nation he that feareth Him, and
worketh righteousness, is accepted with Him.
10
The invitation to come to God for salvation is
to whosoever will.
But when we come to God in the Name of Jesus,
He saves us from sin and from hell.

Acts 10:36-37 (Peter is preaching)
The Word which God sent unto
the children of Israel, preaching
peace by Jesus Christ: (He is
Lord of all:) That Word, I
say, ye know, which was
published throughout all
Judaea, and began from
Galilee, after the baptism which
John preached;
12
We have every opportunity that Cornelius had,
and that Peter had.
Peter had the Word
made flesh.
Cornelius had the
Word preached.
We have that same
Word today.
