Active IQ Cirrus User Guide (Learners) Non-invigilated eAssessments

Overview

Active IQ uses an online assessment platform called Cirrus, the following guidance outlines the process learners will need to follow to access and navigate their Cirrus assessments. This guidance assumes that the learner has access to a stable internet connection. It is recommended that tablets or mobile phones are not used to access the assessments, as the user experience may be compromised.Active IQ’s non-invigilated eAssessments can be accessed anywhere and do not need a centre nominated invigilator to be present. You are also permitted to refer to notes and course materials. The eAssessment can be accessed at any time during a scheduled window, as determined by the centre. *Please note that screen shots are taken from a range of assessments and are included as examples to demonstrate functionality.

Non-invigilated eAssessment GuidanceOnce you are ready to access your assessment, you must first navigate to the delivery site:

Once there, you will need to enter your Username, i.e. your Quartz Learner ID, and the Password that has been created for you and then click Login.

On the next screen, you will see any assessments that are currently available to you.

If there is more than one assessment available in the list, you will need to choose the assessment you will be taking first; if only one option is available, you can leave the default selection. Once the relevant assessment is selected, you should click Start test.

This will take you to the next step of the sign-in process: an introductory page, which you will need to read through in full. You can then click Start Assessment.

Within the assessment, you can navigate around in a couple of different ways. To navigate questions in chronological order, you can use the Next and Previous buttons in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Alternatively, you can navigate freely by clicking on the Overview button and then selecting the question number as required.

You’ll notice that this page shows you any questions you have not yet attempted to answer.

To select an answer option, you will need to click the radio button next to it.

To flag a question you are not sure about, you should click the Flag button whilst on that question.

That flag will show in two places – see below.

You can navigate back to a question and change your response at any time prior to completing your assessment.

Note:If required, you can increase the size of the on-screen font by clicking on the A+ button.

Where enabled, you can use the on-screen calculator function by clicking that button.

You can close the calculator by clicking on the black cross symbol in its top-right corner.

To review the assessment’s introductory information again, e.g. to remind yourself of the pass mark, you can click the Introduction button.

Again, you can close this using the black cross icon; alternatively, you can click on Continue test.

In addition to written content, the non-invigilated eAssessments may also include video content. If more than one learner is attempting the assessment at the same time, you must ensure you have the use of headphones.

In addition to multiple choice questions, non-invigilated eAssessments also include:

• Match.• Extended match.• Select from list.• Multiple response.• Either/or.• Order.

You must read the instructions carefully before answering each question.

Once you are ready to finish your assessment, you will need to click on Complete assessment.

If you have any unanswered and/or any flagged questions, the system will notify you of this. Should you wish to review these questions, you should click on Cancel and then use the Overview button to find them.

If a question is flagged and unanswered, that will be indicated by an orange box. Those that are simply flagged will appear in green.

Once you have attempted an answer to each question – or even if you haven’t but still want to end the assessment anyway – you can click on Complete assessment once more and this time click Confirm in the subsequent dialogue box.

The system will allow you to click Confirm even if you have unanswered and or flagged questions.

Finally, you will need to click on Finish in the next dialogue box.

Clicking Cancel at this point will take you back to the assessment.

This will submit your answers to the system and take you to a closing message, from which you can click Exit to navigate back to the login screen.

Once the assessment has been completed, you will be able to see a summary of your results.

This will include your score, the percentage required to pass and the score you received for each question. Where you did not answer the question correctly you will see a red box. Where a question has been answered correctly you will see a green box.

You can also access results on the dashboard by selecting Completed from the dropdown menu, which can be found in the top right corner of the page. Selecting Upcoming will allow you to see upcoming assessments today and in the next 30 days.

If you did not achieve the required pass mark, you are permitted to attempt the assessment two further times, the best attempt will constitute your final mark.Following this, you must receive additional support before attempting the assessment again.
