Accommodation Services kindly ask you to do a little bit of preparation before you leave… Let your accommodation reception staff know when you plan to leave your student accommodation and also when you plan to return. Don’t forget to remove all of your waste from your flat or block and take it to the appropriate waste disposal location on your site, please check both the communal areas and your bedroom. Don’t forget to remove any perishable items such as milk from your fridge – it won’t be very appealing when you return! Secure your flat and room by locking all doors and windows. Double Check… All year we each do our bit for the environment, so let’s maintain this standard over the Christmas holidays! If you are not going to be in your room/flat over the next few weeks, remember to turn off, all of the lights and electrical items including your sockets. Plus...turn down your bedroom heater to frost level or turn off. Also if it’s applicable to you, close the vents within your room/flat.

It’s that time of year where many of you will be leaving for the Christmas/new year holidays. Accommodation Services kindly ask you to do a little bit of preparation before you leave…

• Let your accommodation reception staff know when you plan to leave your student accommodation and also when you plan to return.

• Don’t forget to remove all of your waste from your flat or block and take it to the appropriate waste disposal location on your site, please check both the communal areas and your bedroom.

• Don’t forget to remove any perishable items such as milk from your fridge – it won’t be very appealing when you return!

• Secure your flat and room by locking all doors and windows.

Double Check…

All year we each do our bit for the environment, so let’s maintain this standard over the Christmas holidays! If you are not going to be in your room/flat over the next few weeks, remember to turn off, all of the lights and electrical items including your sockets.

Plus...turn down your bedroom heater to frost level or turn off. Also if it’s applicable

to you, close the vents within your room/flat.

Let’s get recycling in 2016...In your University Accommodation you can recycle all your old Christmas/birthday cards and envelopes in the mixed recycling bin.

P.S… Double check you have removed address labels off the front, which may contain personal details.

Don’t worry if you haven’t got any (or binned them already), you can still participate.

You can also recycle:• Wrapping paper • Cardboard and plastic packaging• Plastic carrier bags• Glass bottles and jars

You can use the bins provided in your room and in the kitchen, to divide all of your waste, such as white paper, coloured paper, glass and plastic; take them out to the colour coded bins provided in the waste hubs – ‘’Do you bit for the planet!’’

Waste Hubs:Grey lid – General waste (unrecyclable items and food waste)Blue lid – Mixed recycling (paper, plastics)Green lid – Glass only

Did Santa bring you new clothes for Christmas? Why not donate your old clothes/shoes to charity? Your University Accommodation, work with local organisations who will take all your old clothes/items; talk to your Accommodation Reception team or RSAs for more details of what they will take.
