ABOUT MLINI

Mlini – old historical settlement of Molina. It was the centreof milling industry, also historically significant place whichsupplied Dubrovnik with water prior to the construction ofthe aquaduct. This was of great importance, especially duringdry summer months. For instance, in the 14th century therewere two ships which transported drinking water from Mlinito Dubrovnik daily, and in the 19th century ships from theUkraine used to come to Mlini loaded with corn to beground there.

The church of st. Hilarion is situated in the oldest part inMlini. According to legend, st. Hillarion , anchorite and saintslayed a dragon on the very shore of Mlini, and thusliberated the region from the pagans. The church was built inhonor of this saint and he became the patron saint of Mlini.

ABOUT ZAVRELJE

Zavrelje – settlement which got its name after a nearbyspring of water. Nice stone houses overviewing the sea arelocated on a high cliff. The remains of pre-historical piles ofstones and the Vidovo cemetary are still preserved above thesettlement.

The stone above Zavrelje called the Star, marked in white tobe noticeable, is a natural phenomenon ; sunbeams fall onthe stone at exactly eight o’clock both during summer and inwinter time. That's why it’s called the Eight o’clock stone.
