UALRAssistant/Associate Professor

Plant Molecular Biology

The Applied Science Department at the University of Arkansas at Little Rockis an interdisciplinary graduate department in engineering and sciences(http://technologize.ualr.edu/appliedscience/). The department is solicitingapplications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor (job #385) in the area ofplant molecular biology. Appointment at the Associate Professor level is pos-sible for candidates who have an externally supported research program anda substantial publication record.

Candidates working in all areas of plant molecular biology will be considered.Applications are especially encouraged from candidates who generate andintegrate complex data from biochemical, proteomic, and genomic studies. The successful candidate must establish a vigorous independent researchprogram supported by external funding. We are particularly interested in can-didates who will participate in collaborative interdisciplinary research, suchas energy and environmental biosciences, bioengineering, or biomaterials.Candidates must have a Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, ora closely related discipline.

To apply, applicants should send an application letter (job #385), a curricu-lum vitae, a statement of research interests and teaching philosophy, andnames and contact information of three references to: Faculty SearchCommittee-PMB, Department of Applied Science, University of Arkansas atLittle Rock, AR 72204-1099. (Phone 501-569-8000, email:[email protected]). Review of applications will begin November 2, 2007 andcontinue until the position is filled.

The Rockefeller University seeks exceptional, interactive, and creative scientists to join itsfaculty. We invite applications from outstanding candidates for tenure-track positions andalso encourage tenured Professors to apply, provided that they are early on in their careers.

The Rockefeller University provides strong financial support for the research work of itsfaculty. The positions offer highly competitive salary, benefits and start-up funds, new orrecently renovated laboratory space, access to numerous state-of-the-art core facilities andextensive opportunities for collaboration both within the University and with neighboringinstitutions. The University also provides very strong continuing support for research workbeyond start-up, including full support for graduate students.

The University has a laboratory-based organization structure that fosters interdisciplinaryresearch in the following areas:

CALL FOR PAPERS

Plant Physiology is pleased to announce a Focus Issue on Plant Interactions with Arthropod Herbivores to bepublished in March 2008. The issue will be edited by Georg Jander and Gregg Howe. Submissions describ-ing novel aspects of any interaction between plants and arthropod herbivores are welcome. Emphasis shouldbe on molecular and biochemical aspects of the interaction, including recognition of herbivory, signalingpathways that regulate host plant defense, volatile signals, tritrophic interactions, plant defense chemistry, manipulation of plant defenses by herbivores, and natural variation in plant resistance to herbivores.

Authors interested in contributing should indicate this in the cover letter when submitting papers online athttp://submit.plantphysiol.org/. Please select “Plant-Herbivore Interactions, March 2008” from the FocusIssue list in the online submission system. Articles published within 2 years before and after the Focus Issuewill be considered for inclusion in an online Focus Collection of articles relevant to the focus topic.

Please contact Georg Jander ([email protected]) or Gregg Howe ([email protected]) for additional information.

Deadline for Submissions: November 1, 2007.To submit an article, please go to http://submit.plantphysiol.org.
