English language exams

At the British Council in Austria we offer English language exams for all ages and abilities including Cambridge

English Qualifications and IELTS.

Why choose Cambridge English Qualifications?

Cambridge English Qualifications are in-depth exams that make learning English enjoyable, effective and

rewarding. They encourage continuous progression with a clear path to improving language skills. Each

qualification focuses on a level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), enabling learners

to develop speaking, writing, reading and listening skills. Cambridge English Qualifications help you to:

Develop your students’ skills and confidence

Structure your language-learning curriculum

Evaluate your students’ progress

Help your students prepare for higher level exams

In Austria we organise Cambridge English Qualifications to suit your students’ needs including all levels within

Schools, General and higher education and Business portfolios. We deliver both paper-based and computer-

based formats in a wide range of locations and multiple dates including in Vienna and St.Pölten.

When you prepare and enter students for Cambridge English Qualifications, your school automatically

becomes a Cambridge English preparation centre and gains access to many benefits including free resources

for learners and teachers and marketing support for your school. You will join a network of over 50,000

preparation centres in more than 130 different countries. Through Addvantage we will guide you on

everything that is available to you and offer you further exclusive high-quality materials and resources,

developed by the British Council, that help your students prepare for these exams.

Frequently Asked Questions How will my level of membership in 2019 be calculated? For each candidate you registered for Cambridge English Qualifications that took place in 2018, (A2 Key for Schools & A2 Key (KET), B1 Preliminary for Schools & B1 Preliminary (PET), B2 First for Schools & B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), C2 Proficiency (CPE), B1 Business Preliminary (BEC P), B2 Business Vantage (BEC V), C1 Business Higher (BEC H), through the British Council you earned one point. This only applies to candidates registered through the preparation centre in bulk, i.e. where one payment was made, and one group entry form submitted. The total number of points earned in 2018 entitles you to one of two levels of membership. Each level has its own benefits for you to enjoy in 2019. Do I have to register a minimum number of candidates in 2018 to claim my benefits? No. Your level of membership and benefits are based on the number of points you earned in the previous year. For example, if you earned 40 points in 2018, you are entitled to a Premium level of membership and its benefits in 2019, regardless of the number of candidates you register in 2019. The points you get in 2018 will be used to calculate your membership level in 2019. What does joining Addvantage commit me to? Nothing. Joining Addvantage simply means that you can access the benefits of your 2018 entries. You can stop your membership at any time if you no longer want to use the benefits. Can I join up with other schools to increase our joint level of membership? No, this programme is applicable for individual schools and institutions only. How do I pay the candidate fee if I am entitled to free tests (Premium memberships only)? If you are entitled to free tests you will be given voucher numbers with your membership certificate. The vouchers can be used against any exams in 2019. Simply add the voucher number(s) to your registration and deduct the amount accordingly. For example, if you wish to register 25 candidates for B2 First (FCE) and would like to use 2 vouchers, you only need to calculate 23 B2 First (FCE) fees. Please note that vouchers can only be used for exam registrations in the actual membership year by the institution entitled to them.
