A little bit about us… Lubbock-Cooper High School (LCHS) is the only high school in Lubbock-Cooper Independent School District. The campus was constructed in 1990 to accommodate the growing Pirate population. With district growth showing no signs of slowing, we continue to complete construction projects to accommodate our increased student body. The campus has recently undergone a 50-classroom expansion, a library move and renovation, and a gymnasium addition. We will open an expanded Career and Technology Education (CTE) wing that will include a state of the art culinary arts kitchen, twelve new classrooms, and expanded ag sciences and building trades shops in August. The band hall has been expanded and renovated over the summer and a fine arts expansion including a new dance studio will be completed over the course of the next calendar year. LCHS is situated near Lubbock-Cooper Middle School, South Elementary, the LCISD Administrative Offices, and the LCISD Special Education department. LCHS serves 1,549 students* in grades nine - twelve. There are 135 certified teach- ers* on the LCHS campus. The total faculty and staff at the high school is 158 strong. The average student-teacher ratio in the classroom is 22:1. What we offer… In addition to core curriculum, LCHS students have a variety of electives to choose from, including agricultural sciences, building trades, business education, marketing education, family and consumer sciences, Spanish, journalism and yearbook. Addi- tional classes include art, design, theater, band, choir, dance, physical education, competitive athletics, and student athletic training. Students are also offered dual credit courses and may select pre-AP and AP classes. Students are also encouraged to participate in the many extracurricular activities offered at LCHS, including National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Student Council, National FFA Organization, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, DECA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and UIL academic competition, to name a few. Parents who would like to get involved are invited to join Athletic Booster Club, Band Booster Club, Choir Booster Club, or Ag Booster Club.
