WEATHER• The weather in Sweden is very different depending on how

close to the coast you are. It is warmer close to the coast and the further into the country you move the colder it gets.

• It is also warmer in the southern part of Sweden, obiviously.

• The rain is usually about the same. There isn’t a huge difference depending on what season it is. The months with the most rain are July and August. The month with the least rain is May.

FORESTS

• The forests of Sweden consists of spruce trees.

• The forests covered most of Sweden but the southern parts of Sweden have been turned into farmland.

• The ground in the forests turns red deeper down because of minerals.

MOUNTAINS

• The tallest mountain in Sweden is called Kebnekaise

• It is about 1200 meters tall

• There is alot of iron in the mountains of Sweden

THE MOOSE• The moose is really big. It is the king

of the Swedish forests.

• The moose lives in all parts of Sweden. It is very common.

• It is a mammal that eats grass and leaves from the forests.

• The males weigh about 400-500 kilos and females weigh around 300 kilos.

• They have really big horns.

THE WOLF

• The wolf can weigh about 30-50 kilos.

• The only thing that can really threaten a wolf is humans.

• There are very few wolves in Sweden. There are about 300 wolves in Scandinavia.

THE BEAVER• The beavers live close to

rivers becuase their homes are built with sticks in the rivers.

• They can stay under water for about 20 minutes.

• The beaver eats bark, leaves, herbs and plants that grow in the water.

• They weigh about 20-30 kilos and become about 75 cm.

THE VIPER• They are common in forests near

lakes and ponds.

• They are grey or brown with a dark zig-zag pattern on their back.

• After they change their skin they have a very light grey and metallic color.

• They are the only poisonous animal in Sweden.

THE FOX

• The fox can become about 75cm, counting its tail.

• It usually has an orange kind of color however there are foxes with darker fur. It is usually quite dark around its feet and the tip of the tail is white.

• They hunt smaller prey but they can also eat plants if they have to.

• Its fur gets thicker during the fall and the winter.

THE MOUNTAIN HARE

• It is about 45-65cm long and weighs 2-4kg. Females are slightly larger than males.

• During the summer the hare is grey-brown but during the winter its fur becomes lighter.

THE LYNX• The lynx is a predator and it

hunts alone.

• It hunts deer and a family of lynx eat about one deer in two days.

• It lives in forests around mountains and a lynx family usually consists of the mother and two cubs. It usually walks around its home territory alot and tends to avoid other neighbouring territories.

THE HEDGEHOG• The hedgehog weighs about 400-700g.

• They eat beetles, caterpillars and worms.

• They create dens out of leaves during the fall. They sleep in these dens through the winter until it’s springtime.

• It curls into a ball when it feels threatened and because of its spikes on its back it is a good defence.

THE BROWNBEAR• It only lives in the northern parts of

Sweden.

• They live in the forests and eat both meat and berries.

• It weighs about 100-300kg.

• It hibernates during the winter and it does this by eating alot until it has enough fat to survive the long hibernation.

• The brownbear isn’t extinct but it isn’t that common either.
