– Get buy-in from Group/Sections/Sponsor• Determine scale of operation based on committment

Although all non-perishable food donations are appreciated, the following is a list of more urgently needed items: Canned Fish or Meat, Baby Food and Formula, Mac & Cheese dinners, Pasta and Sauce, Rice, Canned Fruit and

Vegetables, Canned Stew or Hearty Soups, Canned Beans, Powdered or Canned Milk, Cheese Spread, and Peanut Butter.

We are asking you to consider helping us on December 3rd. Please leave a donation of non-perishable food outside your front door with the “Food Drive Donation” side of this flyer attached to it so that it is visible from

the sidewalk. We will start collecting donations at 1:30 pm. If it is raining, please put the donation bag inside a plastic bag to protect it.

Steps in the Program

Preparation– Fold and stuff flyers into bags. – Bundle into 25/50.– Produce route maps for delivery and pick up

• Counts of houses on each route are important

– Assign routes to sections for delivery– Produce packages for pick up teams/drivers

• Thank you cards• Safety/Pick up instructions• Route maps

– Buy supplies to feed/thank volunteers• Food (candy/granola bars), Drinks (Juice boxes, Hot Choc, Coffee)

Flyer/Bag Delivery– On Regular meeting night(s)

• Discuss hunger• Discuss safety precautions• Break out into groups of 2-3 kids + adults (maintaining ratio)• Deliver bags with flyers

– Regroup and discuss• Ask children questions about the night

– Did anyone have any challenges?

• Thank them. Remind them to come out for pickup day!

Food Collection• Gathering People

– Gather at central location– Hand out packages to drivers

• Maps• Safety and instruction sheets• Emergency Contact number(s)

– Divide children and helpers into small groups (mix older and younger children) and ensure ratio is maintained

– Short Speech• Thank people, discuss safety, explain what to do• Be enthusiastic and positive

– Be prepared for interviews/photos by media• Pick up food

– Drivers drive along road with 4-way flashers on– Children spot food drive bags/flyers– Children collect food and bring it to the vehicle– Children leave a “Thank-you” card– Adult or older child can load food into vehicle

Steps in the Program

• Regroup at Central Location– Pile food into a single location– Gather everyone behind the food for some photos– Provide hot chocolate/coffee and candy/snack for all helpers

• Thank everyone for assisting– Very Short Speech

• More interviews/photos

• Deliver to fire station/food bank!– Load all the food into a few vehicles and deliver to fire station
