Class rank is the academic position

a student has in relation to other

students in the same grade level. The student with the highest ranking is number one in the grade level, and the student with the lowest rank average is the last student in the grade level. All others are ranked between the highest and lowest.

Page 4: A Corr Cort - Hernschools.nbisd.org/upload/page/0135/docs/An Evening... · a student has in relation to other students in the same grade level. The student with the highest ranking

Class ranking is based on a weighted point scale and is not reflected in the actual grade recorded for each course on the transcript.

More rigorous courses (Pre-AP, Dual Credit, and AP) receive greater point value than academic level courses

Not all courses count towards class rank

Those that do include the 4 core classes, foreign language and any PreAP, AP, or Dual Credit level course

Page 5: A Corr Cort - Hernschools.nbisd.org/upload/page/0135/docs/An Evening... · a student has in relation to other students in the same grade level. The student with the highest ranking

AP and Dual Credit Courses receive a maximum of 8 rank points

PreAP Courses receive a maximum of 7 rank points

Academic Courses receive a maximum of 6 rank points

Rank chart is located in the course guide on the high school website

Both AP and Dual Credit are college level courses with college level rigor.

The AP exam score determines whether a college/university will award credit. A score of 3, 4, or 5 is considered a qualifying score, but it is up to the university to award credit.

Dual credit is awarded based on performance throughout the semester. San Antonio College will award credit for courses that are passed, but all courses will be included on the SAC transcript.

Dual credit has an application and testing process that must be followed prior to acceptance into courses. Information is on the counselor website under the dual credit tile or by contacting Mrs. Garcia, the campus dual credit coordinator.

GPA starts with the first high school credit course taken, even if it is taken in middle school
