Last month, CAST Software Ltd. and CORT Event Furnishings of Fairfax, Va., USA, announced a new partnership following the successful launch in July 2010 of Vivien2010 + Library Additions which includes 78 custom furnishings available from CORT Event Furnishings.

Vivien2010, sister to wysiwyg, is an intuitive, 3D event design and sales software designed for the full spectrum of event profession-als who work in the special events and meetings industry. Com-puter skills can range from novice to highly advanced. It empow-ers users to conceive, design, sell, manage, and produce stunning events. By using its wide array of tools, onboard Wizards, Vivien’s growing Library of nearly 6000 proprietary industry-specific objects and textures, and/or importing external files in a variety of formats (including Google SketchUp), individual or multiple users from all areas in an organization can become more professional, more productive and more profitable.

“Vivien brings the CORT Event Furnishings catalogue to life with the ability to virtually mix and match furnishings and accessories from our various collections,” said Kevin Dana, director of market-ing and product development for CORT Trade Show and Event Furnishings. “This offers significant value to event planners who seek one place to search our online catalogue, select furnishings and view their event designs in a 3D rendering.”

For the past 40 years, CORT, a Berkshire Hathaway company, has been the leading provider of rental furniture and has provided

services to more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500 companies. Their trade show and events division, CORT Trade Show and Event Furnishings, is the leading nationwide provider of

furnishings to the event and party rental industry. CORT also provides rental furniture to the majority of trade shows and confer-ences across the nation, including shows and events in Canada. CORT nationwide sales and service support includes 12 distribu-

tion centres focused solely on the event and trade show indus-try. CORT Trade Show and Event Furnishings is also supported nationwide by over 45 CORT Furniture Rental distribution centers. For more information, visit www.CORTevents.com.

Gilray Densham, CAST’s President and CEO explains, “The idea is so simple. Vivien reaches thousands of Users and potential Users, as well as a large and growing number of schools and students. Our software delivers Library objects and textures that are vivid and virtually real when viewed onscreen or our photore-alistic renderings – a must for planners/designers and their clients to see exactly what the design will look like in reality. You can use one or hundreds of objects/textures in a design for any range/size of special event. Before CORT, Vivien had 3500 proprietary 3D objects in its Library including tradeshow and event furniture usually available just about anywhere. While our Library objects awed our Users and their clientele, it was still pretty standard fare. And yes, it’s true that Members can import objects from Google SketchUp and elsewhere, even build their own custom items, but these are design ideas that would need to get built to become a reality.”

With 78-3D CAD objects (and growing) of CORT Event Furnish-ings products already in Vivien’s Library, our Members can use the breadth of Vivien’s electronic catalogue to select and pre-visu-alise various pieces in their designs to see exactly what it will look like at the event – that is, both the designer and their clientele. Now our Members get ideas for furniture design and can order that rental furniture directly from the largest furniture company in the US.”

With the release of Vivien2010 + Library Additions in July 2010, the number of Library objects and textures grew to nearly 6000

items. Already, several hundred select objects from the cata-logues of CORT Furnishings and other suppliers have been care-fully imported into the Vivien Library Additions. You can search and select which object you want, then drag and drop it into your design, just the way you do all objects in the Vivien Library – fully scalable, 2D & 3D.”

Densham concluded “The July Library Additions Release is just the beginning. With each new release we’ll add more products from the same manufacturers plus add other manufacturers and their products too.”
