From your Pastor…
Summer is the time when many couples choose to be married. In fact, I have already celebrated six weddings and I have six more to go. I have found them to be cele-brations filled with happiness and joy. The ceremonies have been complete with elegant clothing, beautiful flowers, and joyous relatives and friends. The marital promises which the couple makes are spoken in a spirit of fidelity and love.
One of the most Sacred Scripture readings chosen for weddings comes from the first letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians (13:4-7). This letter from St. Paul speaks about the beauty of love. This is a passage that can assist married couples but also anyone who is suffering, upset, mad, alone or abandoned, or someone who does not love a person in their there lives. This letter defines who God is and how we are called to love any one another unconditionally. St. Paul tells us that love is patient: doesn’t mean allowing people to step over us, to be disrespectful or aggressive toward us. In communities or relation-ships we find problems when we try to become the center of the relationship or when we want things to go our way. When these things don’t happen we find ourselves stressed out, impatient, aggressive, frustrated, intolerant, anx-ious, angry, etc. These actions will divide us and cause us to be incapable of living or working together. St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians is a letter for married couples as well as for all of us who are called to accept one another with deep compassion and mer-cy. May we live up to this challenge every day of our lives. Sincerely, Rev. Miguel Gonza lez This will continue…

THE RICHNESS OF LIFE IN CHRIST Today we have the beautiful story of the woman promised a child, the wonderful exhortation about life in Christ, and a powerful instruction from Jesus. An embarrassment of riches? Not if we take Jesus' words about "welcome" to heart. The many challenges and blessings offered to us today by Elisha, Paul, and Jesus should be cause for rejoicing, and welcomed heartily into our lives. And, like the great treat that they are, they should be enjoyed and shared generously with others. Today's reading from Romans was chosen very early in the liturgical life of the Church to be the sole apostolic instruction received by candidates for baptism at the Easter Vigil. This illustrates its im-portance as a core belief, and as a means of comprehending the story of the Resurrection. Christ's resur-rection is not merely a story about something that he underwent once upon a time, but it is our story, the story of how we joined the other members of the one Body of Christ, the church. We were not only dead, but we were buried; not ultimately buried, but raised to eternal life with Christ. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Michael Kelly and William Lane are vising our Parish asking us to be generous with this special and important col-lection supporting our 14 re-tired priests, all who have faithfully served our communi-ty for many years. There will be up to 14 men studying for the priesthood in the fall of
2017and these men will serve us in the diocese. Did you know that 50 priests are actively serving in the Diocese of Yakima? Fourteen of the active priests are 65 years of age and older. This special collection helps support the annual operating costs for the retired priests, as well as the seminarians’ education. Fact #1. The total annual operating budget for Seminarian Education is $732,150 (14 Seminarians @ $52,296/each). Their annual operat-ing costs cover tuition, room & board, fees, books, and health insurance/medical expenses. Fact #2. The total annual operating budget for retired priests is $523,300 (14 @ $37,378/each). Their annual operating costs cover retirement, health insurance, medical expenses, and retreats.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
