ABOUT MS. KUPERSobre Ms. Kuper

Hello! I am Ms. Kuper, the 7th grade Math Teacher at Henderson Hammock Charter School. This is my second year at HHCS. I moved to Tampa in July 2013 from Long Island, New York. I received my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Adolescence Education: Mathematics, from Long Island University, Post. I am certified in both New York and Florida to teach Math in grades 6-12.

COURSE INFORMATIONInformación Del Curso

In this Grade 7 Advanced Mathematics course, instructional time will focus on five critical areas:

(1) solving problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions, and working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume;

(2) drawing inferences about populations based on samples;

(3) formulating and reasoning about expressions and equations, including modeling an association in bivariate data with a linear equation, and solving linear equations and systems of linear equations;

(4) grasping the concept of a function and using functions to describe quantitative relationships; and

(5) analyzing two- and three-dimensional space and figures using distance, angle, similarity, and congruence, and understanding and applying the Pythagorean Theorem.

En este 7 Grado curso Matemática Avanzada , el tiempo de instrucción se centrará en cinco áreas críticas :

STATE TESTINGExámenes Estatales

• Both the Mathematics Florida Standards (MAFS) and Language Arts Florida Standards (LAFS) were approved by the Florida State Board of Education on February 18, 2014.

• Both of the finalized MAFS and LAFS are to be fully implemented across the grades in the 2014-15 school year.

• Grade 7 Mathematics Advanced will take the Grade 7 Florida Standards Assessment (FSA).

HOMEWORKTarea

• Homework is usually assigned Monday-Thursday.

• No homework on weekends, unless there is a quiz/test to study for.

• Homework is posted on my website, and sent through the Remind texting service (if you are subscribed).

• Repetition (practice) is important when learning math.

• “Homework provides an opportunity for the students to extend their understanding and directs the students to concepts that need further explanation. Homework provides an opportunity for students to make, discover, and correct mistakes so they can learn from them.”

• Unless the problems can be done using mental math, all work MUST be shown. I have a “no work, no credit” policy.

• I need to see your child’s thinking and make sure they are the one’s doing the work.

• If your child is absent, it is their responsibility to get the notes from a classmate when they return.

• It is also their responsibility to make up the homework that they missed. (Homework from the week is located on a small whiteboard in the classroom, as well as on my website).

• If there is a handout that they did not get, they can come and ask me for it.

• If they are absent for a quiz/test, they will need to make it up the day they return.
