devise a short corner sequence. How are yougoing to use deception to throw the defenseoff the ball? In this case you have to make useof space and timing. Players will work togetherusing a using a variety of passes to create

space for their shot on target. They requirecreativity to devise an effective sequence thathas a high chance of success.

DECIDING TACTICS

Tactics are decided on yourteam’s strengths andattempt to exploit your

opponent’s weaknesses.

Tactics can be adapted within astrategy when necessary andwill often depend on the time

left in the game or the scorewithin the game. For examplea football team will defendmore if they are winning 3-0rather than attacking.

TACTICSFor example:

In basketball you may decide to play zone defencebecause the opposition have inaccurate 3 pointshots. By playing zone defence you are forcing themto shoot from outside the key.

In softball/baseball you would put your team’s bestcatchers at the bases to ensure the ball wouldalways be caught at crucial moments of the game.

In cycling an opponent may tuck in behind theleader in order to reduce the wind resistance actingupon him (slip-streaming). This would mean hewould need to apply such physical effort andtherefore be less tired.
