ASSEMBLY AND SETUP

UNPACKING NOTE: Do not remove the base from the shipping carton at this time.

Remove the top cover from the shipping carton. Remove all parts and shipping supports (except the base) from the carton, and verify that the following parts are included in your shipment:

Note: If you ordered a PVS kit or an Embedded Display, please refer to the assembly and operating instructions included with those products for proper setup and operation.

TOOLS REQUIRED

Your STAR TRAC E-TBT TOTAL BODY TRAINER can be assembled using the following tools:

Metric Hex Key WrenchesMetric Open-End WrenchesMetric Ratchet Socket Wrench Set

Torque WrenchPhillips Head Screwdriver

Your STAR TRAC E-TBT TOTAL BODY TRAINER includes a hex key set and combination open-end wrench.

ASSEMBLY

1. Unpack and Position the BaseCAUTION: The rear end of the base is very heavy. Two people are needed tolift this end when moving the base.

Cut the long edge of the shipping carton base at both ends. Fold the flap downto make a ramp.

With the aid of a helper, lift the rear end of the base, and roll the base off of theshipping carton platform. Place the base on the floor in the location where theunit will be used. Be sure the chosen location is level.

2. Install the Display WeldmentNOTE: You will need someone to assist you to install the display weldment.Have the person who is assisting you hold the display weldment while you routethe display cables and connect the neck.

Have your helper hold the display close the neck on the base, route the mainI/O cable, auxiliary power and coaxial cable up the full length of the displayneck before seating the display unit on the base.

NOTE: Depending on the display configuration, not all the cables may be used.

Gently push the display cables down into the neck, and slide the display into the base. Be sure the display is fully seated. Secure the display to the base with four M8 allen head bolts and four M8 flat washers. Use two bolts in the front side of the neck, and two in the rear side. Tighten the screws securely to a torque of 8-10 lbs-ft.

Install the set screw into the left side of the neck and tighten to a torque of 8-10 lbs-ft.

3. Install the Upper Body Arms

NOTE: Take care not to install the upper body arms backwards. Be sure the arms are positioned as shown when installed.

Place one upper body arm on the right-side hub. Be sure the pin in the arm bracket engages the unthreaded hole on the hub. Secure the upper body arm to the hub with four hex head bolts and four lock washers. Tighten the bolts securely to a torque of 19-21 lbs-ft.

Repeat for the left-side upper body arm.

4. Install the End Caps

NOTE: Be sure the holes in each end cap face the rear of the unit.

Separate the two parts of the right-side end cap. Place the end cap around the hub. Use a piece of tape to temporarily hold the end cap together if necessary.

Secure the end caps together with four Phillips head screws. Tighten the screws firmly.

Repeat for the left-side end cap.

5. Install Rear Display CoverOpen the separately packaged display and remove the M4 screws from the backplastics, set these aside for additional use. Attach the rear display cover to thedisplay weldment with four M4 screws and four M4 washers included with thedisplay.

Make note of the location of the Quick Disconnect Tab as this is referenced in the next assembly step.

6. Connecting the Display AssemblyNote: This step assumes that you are connecting anLED display assembly.

The following display connections will need to be made.

A. Connect the main display cable with a white 9 pinconnector to the J4 connector on the display PCB.

B. Connect the contact heart rate cable to the heartrate board

C. Ground wire from the heart rate board must beconnected to the quick disconnect tab on the display weldment (the location of the quick disconnect tab is shown in Step 5.)

7. Final Display AssemblyWith the electrical connections made you can now attach the display. For the TBT consoleyou will need to first remove the two plastic tabs from the bottom of the display console.Simply flex the plastic back and forth several times and the tabs will break off or carefullyremove with cutters.

Next you will need to attach the front of the display to the weldment. First guide the bottomof the display under the front tabs of the weldment and then second you will need to pivotthe display forward around the tabs to mate front display plastic to the rear plastic that isattached to the weldment.

Once in place attach the plastics with the M4 screws included with the display. There are 8M4 screws that attach around the perimeter of the display.

8. Final Setup

Be sure all bolts and screws are tightened securely.

Operate the unit to check for proper operation. The LED display should power up after the first few strides and the console should turn on.

Move the unit to its final place of operation and check to see if the unit is level. If needed, use the four leveling feet to properly level the unit. To do this, loosen the lock nuts on the adjusters. Rotate the adjusters until the unit is stabilized, then retighten the lock nuts.

You have now completed the assembly of your Star Trac E-TBT Total Body Trainer.
