RELEARN YOUR TRANSMISSION:

For your transmission to work properly with the downloader it must be recalibrated.

2 Come to a complete stop and put the downloader on its highest setting.

3 Moderately accelerate to 55 mph.

4 Allow the vehicle to shift into overdrive and while in overdrive maintain a speed of 55 mph for

15 seconds.

5 Then lightly apply the brake just enough to engage the brake lights, hold brake lights on while

maintaining 55 mph for another 15 seconds.

6 Then come to a complete stop for 20 seconds.

7 Repeat steps 3 through 6 fi ve additional times.

8 Then drive normally and enjoy your Bully Dog Power Pup Downloader.

INTRODUCTION:

The Power Pup Downloader for the 2003 and newer 6.0L Ford Power Stroke turbo diesel is a very simple instrument to operate. All operations take place inside the cab with the downloader hooked up to the OBD ll port. Operating this downloader does not require any mechanical background. While operating this downloader we encourage you to simply follow the instructions provided on the screen of the Power Pup. The instructions on the screen are easy to read and comprehensive.

This instructions booklet will provide you with a detailed description how to perform downloader operations and It is split up into easy to read sections labeled with headings.

Once you have downloaded a power program into your vehicle remember to always keep the down-loader in the vehicle. You may need to change the power program or check and erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

NOTE: Do not use this product in conjunction with any other electronic chip or downloader that isintended to enhance vehicle performance.

The power program must always be removed before taking the vehicle in for any kind of service, as it may interfere with diagnostic tools used by your dealer.

ADJUSTING POWER ONTHEFLY (Using the Outlook Monitor)

Using the downloader in conjunction with the Bully Dog Outlook Monitor allows you to

adjust your horsepower levels on the fl y. That means you will be able to switch between

diff erent levels of power while you are driving.

Only Outlook Versions 1.2.5 & Newer Adjust Downloader Power Program. Earlier Ver-

sions of the Outlook Monitor will Defuel the Vehicle to Adjust Power.

STEPS TO ADJUSTABILITY:

1 If you are installing the Outlook for the fi rst time, go to step two. If you already have an Outlook Monitor

installed on your 6.0L you will need to remove the Outlook plug from the OBD II port.

2 Using the downloader, download what ever maximum power level you would like to be

able to adjust downward. Note that the Outlook Monitor adjusts on four diff erent levels so whatever

power level you download will represent 100% power on the Outlook. You will then have the ability

to adjust that power level from 0% to 100% in 25% increments.

Example: If you were to download the 155 horsepower extreme setting. When you use the Outlook to adjust

power on the fl y your available settings will be: stock, 25% of 155, 50% of 155, 75% of 155, and 100% of 155.

3 Once you have successfully downloaded a power program you can install the Outlook and drive.

When installed the outlook monitor takes priority access over the downloader, and automatically

integrates to adjust power without requiring any extra calibration.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:

1 Make sure that your key is in the off position before you plug the downloader into the vehicle.

The downloader will prompt you to turn the key to the run position.

2 Connect the wire that comes with the downloader into the top of the downloader and then into

the OBD II port. The OBD II port is the diagnostic port located underneath the dash on the

driver side of the vehicle(see OBD II Picture Below).

3 Watch the downloader light up to display its fi rst screen. Then follow the in-

structions given to you on the screen of the downloader. The rest of these instruc-

tions cover the main points of

operating the downloader, but

screen-to-screen guidance is

listed on your Downloader.

If a Downloader is ever interrupted

during a download it may go into

recovery mode. refer to page 9 for

RETURNING TO STOCK:

Plug in the downloader and select the download option from the main menu. Once in the power level selec-

tion menu highlight 0 and press “Y”. Then follow the instruction set out on the downloader. When fi nished,

the downloader will have returned the vehicle to stock power level with the speed limiter in tact and the

transmission shift patterns to stock.

DTC FUNCTION (Diagnostic Trouble Code)

Once selected from the main menu the

DTC function will display all diagnos-

tic trouble codes on your vehicle. This

function allows you to read and erase

trouble codes off of the vehicles ECU.

To erase DTCs simply press “Y” and all

DTC codes will be erased. If no DTCs are

displayed then just unplug the down-

loader and cycle the key.

Reoccurring Trouble Codes you may encounter:

P0603

P1000

Both codes are time delayed codes which may erase over time, but cannot be erased by the

Power Pup downloader.

MAIN SCREEN

The main screen gives the user two options to choose from:

1 DOWNLOADER:

Select this option to download a power program, remove the vehicle speed limiter, and adjust trans-

mission shifting.

2 DTCs:

Select this option to view and erase diagnostic trouble codes.

DOWNLOAD FUNCTION

Select the downloader option from the main menu and turn the key to the run position without starting

the vehicle. The downloader will then read and save the vehicles stock information. Once the read is

complete the downloader will display a list of power settings available. Use the up/down arrows to move

through and select a power program.

The power table on page three describes the

specifi cations of each power level.

SPEED LIMITER

The downloader gives racing enthusiasts the op-

tion to remove the OEM speed limiter. This allows

the vehicle to reach speeds in excess of where the

OEM speed limiter was set, usually at 98 mph. By

selecting yes to remove the speed limiter you

agree that your vehicle has tires, suspension,

and any other neccessary modifi cations rated

for speeds in excess of 140 mph.

This Modifi cation is intended for race purposes

only, and should never be used on a public road

or highway.

TRANSMISSION TUNING:

The downloader off ers 3 diff erent transmission tuning options to facilitate added horsepower over stock

and to make your driving experience more enjoyable. The descriptions below describe our recommenda-

tions of use with each of the three diff erent options.

•AGGRESSIVE SHIFTING:

For quick and fi rm shifts. This application will benefi t those who use their pickups for drag racing and

competition pulling. The fi rmness and quickness of shifts will increase signifi cantly over stock. This ap-

plication works well with high performance aftermarket transmissions. We do not recommend that this

application be used while towing.

•SMOOTH SHIFTING:

Enjoy the feel of a shift that is smoother than stock.

This application is perfect for the non-aggressive

every day driver or those who tow on a regular

basis. This application is most eff ect when used

within the power settings 50 to 80.

•STOCK SHIFTING:

We do not recommend using the stock shifting

application with any power setting above 50.
