COURSE BENEFITS

INSTITUTE GOALS AND OVERVIEWAACAP’s Douglas B. Hansen, MD 41st Annual Review Course emphasizes the most recent material relevant to the general practice of child and adolescent psychiatry and serves as an up-to-date review of child and adolescent psychiatry as well as addresses important clinical research. The course is designed to update practitioners on state-of-the-art standards of diagnosis and treatment.

LEARNING OBJECTIVESAt the conclusion of this continuing medical education activity, the participant should be able to:

1. Identify the clinical picture, differential diagnosis using DSM-5, and information over the past 10 years of child and adolescent psychiatry on course and risk factors associated with the main child psychiatric disorders.

2. Provide descriptions of up-to-date treatment options for psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents.

3. Discuss issues related to dialectical behavioral therapy, consultation-liaison emergencies, neuropsychiatry, transgendered youth, and complementary and alternative medicine.

4. Describe areas in which advances in the field will be emerging over the next 10 years.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION CREDITSThe American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
