ERATH COUNTY4-H NEWS
OCTOBER 2014
A fundamental purpose of the 4-H Program is to highlight our program’s success and especially the youth that are involved in it. Each year, during National 4-H Week, the local and county 4-H clubs/groups have the opportunity to showcase what they have gained from their membership in 4-H through activities and events at the local and county level.
Erath 4-H will host a National 4-H Week Photo Challenge October 5 - 11.
For each day of the week, submit a photo that relates to the theme for that day. You may post your photos to the Erath 4-H Facebook page, or email them to us at [email protected] and we will post them for you.
Daily Themes:Monday - I pledge my head to clearer thinkingTuesday - I pledge my heart to greater loyaltyWednesday - I pledge my hands to larger serviceThursday - I pledge my health to better livingFriday - 4-H T-shirt daySaturday - One Day 4-H
When posting your photos, be sure to use the following hashtags: #makea4Himpact #iam4h #erathcounty4h

The Extension Office will be
closed on Monday,
October 13th for
Columbus Day.
One day 4-H is one day for all the 4-H members, parents, leaders, and volunteers to step out into their communities and county and say “thank you” by giving back for them more than 103 years of support to 4-H in Texas. This day of community service is what ever each 4-H members, club, or county 4-H Program wants it to be. It could be as simple as picking up trash and mowing the lawn for senior citizens to elaborate as hosting a 5K Walk/Run and raising money for a cause. Join over 10,000 other 4-H members in Texas on OCTOBER 11, 2014 as they step out into their communities to make a difference in one day!
Because last year’s blood drive was such a great success, Erath 4-H will, again this year, host a BLOOD DRIVE to benefit Carter Blood Bank.
We were unable to get it scheduled for October 11th, so it will be held on
Saturday, November 15th
FREE Hot Dog lunch and snacks!!!More details to come in next month’s newsletter.
Call or come by the Extension Office to sign up (time slots are in 20 minute intervals) to donate blood OR to volunteer to help that day.
We encourage all clubs to participate.
Blood Donors:
• must be at least 16 yrs. old and weigh at least 110 lbs.
• 17 yrs. & older must bring photo ID
• 16 year-old youths must bring parent AND photo ID
Victoria Saucedo is heading up this project. Please contact her at [email protected] with any questions.
