FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT NOVEMBER 29, 2015

Saint Gabriel Memorial Fund It is customary and fitting to remember

loved ones who have died with memorial

donations to a favorite cause or charity. In this

way, the memory of the deceased is honored

and a good work, either civic or religious, is perpetuated.

There are numerous charities that have been traditionally

designated for such purpose.

Memorial donations to the St. Gabriel Memorial

Fund would be used for the betterment of our St. Gabriel

Parish as the needs present itself or as determined by our

Pastor.

Would you consider the St. Gabriel Memorial

Fund as a worthy recipient?

We are grateful to the following who have donated to the

St. Gabriel Memorial Fund in the loving memory of:

May Checho

Thomas & Virginia Conroy Alice Lang

Marian Starr Maureen Fernandes

John & Marge Conforto Mary M. Gelinas

Elizabeth Valente Elizabeth Paklos

Howie & Peggy Nieman

For the convenience of those planning to use the

traditional advent wreath in their homes to prepare for

Christmas, we will publish the prayers that accompany

the lighting of each week’s candle.

FIRST WEEK

Prayer: O Lord, stir up your might we beg you, and

come, that by your protection we may deserve to be

rescued from threatening dangers of our sins and saved

by your deliverance. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. (The purple candle opposite the pink one is lit and left

burning during the evening meal, family prayers or another

specified time.)

If you would like to participate in this

annual Christmas Giving Tree Project, please

take a tag from the tree, buy and wrap the

(specified) gift for the child whose gender/age

is written on the tag, then tape that tag to your

wrapped gift and bring it back to Church.

Remember, angel ornaments are for you to take

along with gift tag and it is a gift to you to keep the angel

for your tree!

All gifts must be received by December 13th so

that they may be picked up by a member of St. Michael

Parish for distribution.

Adult Altar Servers

The need for adults, men and women, to assist as

altar servers during Mass has increased over the

last few years as many of our youth altar servers

have become involved in other parish ministries.

Altar servers assist the priest and deacon during celebration

of the Eucharist and other liturgical services. The major

responsibilities of this ministry include: carrying the

processional cross, holding the Missal for the celebrant,

assisting in the preparation of the gifts of bread and wine,

and the ringing of bells during the consecration.

Anyone interested should contact St. Gabriel Rectory. A

training class will be scheduled for those interested.

We are accepting donations for Christmas

flowers. Perhaps you would like to make a

donation in memory of a deceased family

member, friend or in honor of someone.

PLEASE PRINT your intention on the

envelope which may be found at the church

exits or use the one included with your envelopes.

Volunteers are needed to help serve on a

rotating basis for about two hours each Sunday

morning during the months of September

through June. Volunteers would make the

coffee, pour juice, replenish donuts and assist

with set up and clean up.

Our goal would be to set up teams of volunteers to work on

a schedule. This is a wonderful way for any individual,

parish ministry/group or school family to share their time

and talent.

For more information, please feel free to see Jim at the next

Coffee Hour or call the Parish Rectory Office. Your

assistance would be greatly appreciated.

"Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud

with power and great glory. But when these signs begin to

happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your

redemption is at hand." - Lk 21:27-28
