Sponsored by the 60+ clubs of the Eastern Nebraska-Western Iowa Car Council.We need volunteers to collect free will donations of cash and food from incoming cars. Shifts: 6-8am, 8-10am & 10-12pm at 3 gates.Food Sorting Volunteers - This is a great activity for youth, corporate or church groups. Volunteers needed to sort and package food. Center for People in NeedContact: Barb Solomon(402) 476-4357 ext. 217 [email protected] Goods Organizer – Truckloads of Help - We receive semi-truck loads of good each month that then need to be sorted and stored in our warehouse until we distribute them to agencies and low income clients. Volunteers are needed to help with this sorting and are welcome any time between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Monday through Friday. We are also willing to set up times on weekends if we have groups that are interested in volunteering.

We are currently seeking volunteers to help with painting and general cleaning. This would be a great opportunity for groups, as well as individuals.

Lutheran Family ServicesContact: Dana Moyer(402) 978-5665 [email protected] Group Childcare - If you enjoy spending time with children, we could use your help during our Lincoln post-adoption support groups. Volunteers are needed to work with children while parents and guardianship parents of adopted children attend a support group at our facility in Lincoln. This position allows parents to attend support group and have the peace of mind their children are being well taken care of. Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month from 6-7:30 PM.

Volunteers will provide childcare and administer various activities. Children who attend vary greatly in age and level of need.Responsibilities of Support Group Childcare volunteers consists of entertaining children, changing diapers, feeding children snacks or dinner provided by LFS, and monitoring child safety. Dinner is provided for volunteers.

University of Nebraska State Museum of Natural HistoryContact: Sarah Feit(402) 472-8899 [email protected] with a Scientist: Sunday with a Scientist is a series of presentations that highlight the work of scientists,

while educating kids and families on a variety of topics related to science and natural history. Volunteers are needed to greet museum visitors and to help hand out evaluations after the event. Sundays with a Scientist typically takes place from 1:30-4:30 pm at Morrill Hall on the third Sunday of each month.

Assist shoppers with purchases, accept items from donors, prepare them for display and keep the boutique looking good. A passion for providing exceptional, personal customer service is required; those with marketing and/or retail experience are especially desired. Training is provided; store is open Mon.-Sat. from 10-5, Thurs., from 10-6.

Teen Court works to determine creative sentencing for adolescent youth who are on Diversion for first-time, non-violent, criminal offenses.Student volunteers are welcome, and must be at least 16 years old. Lincoln Public School "GoPo" hours are accepted. Students will act as members of the court to help determine consequences for criminal behavior. This is a fun, interesting opportunity to serve with other students, contribute to a good cause and help out fellow teenagers.All volunteers must complete a 2-hour orientation, and be available on Thursday afternoons from 4:15pm-

6:00pm.

At times, making sure people are able to get in the door will be necessary, such as at Community Action.Greeters will greet taxpayers with a friendly hello, ask if they have the necessary paperwork to complete their

Contact: Rachel Barth(402) 486-9412 [email protected] Morning Donor Cafe Host/Hostess at 26th and Kensington – Volunteers assist in the donor cafe at the NCBB 26th and Kensington location (4900 North 26th Street) from 9 to noon every Saturday morning. Tasks include offering juice, water, cookies and snacks to volunteer blood donors who have just donated or are waiting to donate blood. Maintain donor cafe cleanliness, replace cookies, be able to carry on conversation with volunteer donors and remind donors to fill out NCBB evaluation forms or campaign registrations.

April 11 and Sun. April 12. This event asks community members to literally “stuff a bus” full of NEW items needed by families at Friendship Home. Lincoln Children’s ZooContact: Angela Nosal(402) 475-6741 [email protected] Spring Clean-Up – Saturday, March 7 & Saturday, March 21Volunteers are needed to assist with preparing the zoo grounds for the 2015 season.The Zoo covers 10 acres of land and houses over 400 animal species and hundreds more plant species. Although there is much to take care of, we are limited with the small number of staff we have at the Zoo. With opening day

on April 1 this year, we only have a small amount of time to prepare the grounds. Without the support from our volunteers it would be nearly impossible to get the Zoo ready for opening day.What: Raking, sweeping and picking up trash, hauling, washing, etc.Dress: Dress appropriately for the weather. Wear clothes that can get dirty and wet.Where to Meet: Volunteer check-in will be located by the front entrance gate. All volunteers must check-in before being taken to a specific area.Equipment: Rakes, gloves, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other lawn and garden equipment. Please bring any equipment with you to help with the clean up efforts. Please label all personal equipment. Food & Drink: Please bring any snacks or special drinks with you. Water will be provided, but volunteers should bring refillable bottles.
