We want to thank all the parents who came and visited during American Education Week.  It was great to see so many parents supporting the children throughout the week.

Congratulations to our 94 Honor Roll students!  Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades can earn a spot on the honor roll by receiving grades of A’s and B’s and earning 1’s and 2’s in their effort and learning behaviors. We hope to have even more Honor Roll students during the second quarter.

Last Request – If your family qualifies, please be sure to submit the form as soon as possible! Federal Impact Aid Survey was sent home with students three weeks ago.    Public Law 81-874 is federal legislation that provides financial assistance from the federal government to local school systems based on the number of students whose parents/guardians work more than 50% of the day on

federally owned property in the State of Maryland, as of the survey date (October 2, 2015). The parent/guardian can be employed by the federal government or by a contractor working on a project on federally owned property located in the State of Maryland. Also counted are students whose parents are serving as active military anywhere in the world.  Call the office if you need another form, 410-880-5930.

REMINDER: PARENT / TEACHER CONFERENCES NEXT WEEK NOVEMBER 23rd AND 24h !

If you still need to schedule your parent/teacher conference, please contact the school to make an appointment. Conferences will be conducted between 1:00 pm thru 6:40 pm Monday and Tuesday. Please be reminded that both days are early dismissal days for students. Students will be dismissed at 12:50 pm.

Survey for Parents of Kindergarten Students - Welcome to Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) Kindergarten!  The office of Early Childhood Programs would like your feedback on how you obtained the information needed to register and prepare your child to attend kindergarten.  Please complete the survey sent home with your child and return it to your child's teacher at parent/teacher conferences next week.

To complete the survey online, follow this link https://goo.gl/geKTBp. Thank you! GRADE LEVEL FOOD BATTLE - This year our school is participating in a GRADE LEVEL FOOD BATTLE food drive.  Students are encouraged to bring in a non-perishable food item and place it in boxes that will be distributed into each pod area.  The grade level that has the most non-perishable food items will win a popcorn and movie hour the last week before the holiday break.  Look for the flyer coming home in your child’s Friday Folder today! The contest ends on Friday Dec. 18th.    All food items donated will go to the Monarch Mills Food Pantry as another way to assist our community of families in need. Contact Ms. Dobbs, GES Counselor for questions!  Thanks everyone!

The Flu Mist Clinic is scheduled for Tuesday, December 15th

If your child is signed up for the clinic but has already received the vaccine, please let the health room know so that he/she can be removed from the roster. Please be reminded of the following:°Students who are ill and have a fever should remain at home until their temperature has been

normal for 24 hours.

°Students with symptoms of acute illness such as vomiting, diarrhea, colds, rash, persistent cough etc. should be observed at home and be seen by a doctor if necessary. If your child is diagnosed with any disease that could be contagious (such as strep throat, conjunctivitis, mumps, chicken pox etc.) please let the school know so that we may observe for additional cases.

°Frequent hand washing is known to reduce the spread of disease. Please encourage your children to wash their hands frequently, especially after toileting, before eating, and after they cough/sneeze or blow their nose.

Congratulations to our Volunteer of The Month for our November Meeting – Michael Osomiha.  Each month we put all the volunteers into a drawing and draw out a gift card for that person for giving to our school.  When you come to volunteer at GES, please make sure to click volunteer when signing in on the Lobbyguard.  We get a print out of names of volunteers and they go into the drawing.
